Traits

Artistic Merit. Raenoir, Chronicler has advantage on History, Insight, Perception and Investigation checks made to identify, analyze, interpret, or create any form of fine art.

Crystaline Loci. Raenoir, Chronicler has four crystal orbs, called loci, that hover and move at his command, all made of large tumbled sapphires. At the beginning of combat, Raenoir animates these four orbs, each of which hover in the closest unoccupied space to Raenoir, acting directly after him in initiative order.
Each Locus is a Small unaligned construct with an AC of 17, HP of 18, Strength, Dexterity and Constitution of 15 (+2), immunity to all conditions except grappled, prone, invisible, restrained or incapacitated, immunity to poison and psychic damage, resistance to non-magical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage, darkvision out 60 feet, and a hover speed of 30 feet. Each Locus can also freely cast mage hand and unseen servant
During combat right after Raenoir's turn, It utilizes any of Raenoir's Actions except for Multicast, and can move up to its hover speed. While it is hovering in this way, any given orb must stay within 120 feet of Raenoir or else it falls to the ground inert until Raenoir reanimates it as an action when he is within range. All active orbs immediately fall inert if Raenoir falls unconscious or dies. If an orb is reduced to 0 hit points, it is shattered and cannot be reanimated.

Loci ArcanaWhenever Raenoir, Chronicler uses his Spellcasting trait on his turn, he can instead choose for the spell to originate from one of his Loci, using the space they occupy as the point of origin as if the Locus was casting the spell. If a spell targets or concerns 'Self' in the description, the spell instead concerns the Locus, but otherwise functions using Raenoir's spellcasting ability, spell save DC and attack modifier.

Spellcasting. Raenoir, Chronicler is a 10th-level spellcaster. His spellcasting ability is Intelligence (spell save DC 18, +7 to hit with spell attacks). He has the following wizard spells prepared:

Cantrips (at will): fire bolt*, ray of frost*, message, shocking grasp*, sword burst*, prestidigitation
1st level (4 slots): magic missile, shield*, chromatic orb, color spray, silent image
2nd level (3 slots): alter self, shatter, blindness/deafness
3rd level (3 slots): counterspell, haste, dispel magic
4th level (3 slots): arcane eye, dimension door
5th level (1 slot): creation, scrying

* Cantrip appears in Actions or Reactions

Arcane Oneness. Raenoir's weapon and unarmed attacks are magical for purposes of calculating damage and resistances. Additionally, they deal Raenoir's choice of the weapons' typical damage or force (*included in Thump).

Actions

Multicast. Raenoir, Chronicler casts two Cantrips in any combination, or he casts one Cantrip and makes two Thump attacks.

ThumpMelee Unarmed Attack: +2 to hit, reach 5 ft. one target. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) bludgeoning or force* damage.

Fire Bolt (Cantrip). Ranged Spell Attack: +7 to hit, range 120 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d10) fire damage. A flammable object hit by this attack ignites if it isn't being worn or carried.

Ray Of Frost (Cantrip). Ranged Spell Attack: +7 to hit, range 60 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (2d8) cold damage, and the target's speed is reduced by 10 feet until the start of Raenoir's next turn.

Shocking Grasp (Cantrip). Melee Spell Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (2d8) lightning damage, and the target can't take reactions until the start of its next turn. Raenoir rolls this attack with advantage if the target is wearing armor made of metal.

Sword Burst (Cantrip). Ranged Spell Attack: range 5 ft., any creature in range. Each creature within range must succeed on a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw or take 7 (2d6) force damage.

Reactions

Shield (1st-Level Spell). Whenever Raenoir, Chronicler is hit by an attack or targeted by the magic missile spell, he may use his reaction to cast shield. Until the start of his next turn, he gains a +5 bonus to his AC and cannot be damaged by magic missile.

Legendary Actions

Raenoir, Chronicler can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. Unless the action directly mentions the Loci, the actions cannot originate from them, and only from Raenoir. Raenoir regains spent legendary actions at the start of his turn.

Hover. One Locus moves up to half of it's hover speed to a space of Raenoir's choice.
Tether Locus (Costs 2 Actions). Raenoir magically teleports, along with any equipment he is wearing or carrying, to the closest adjacent unoccupied space of one of his Loci. The Locus in question must be active and must be within the 120 feet of Raenoir when this Action is taken. Any Loci that falls outside of this range once Raenoir completes this action immediately falls inert in it's current space.
Recall Loci (Costs 3 Actions). Raenoir wrenches his Loci back to his position, with all active Loci immediately taking the fastest unobstructed route and arriving in the closest adjacent unoccupied space to Raenoir, without regard to creatures who happen to be in the way. Any creature of size Large or smaller must succeed a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or take 14 (4d6) bludgeoning damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. Any Loci affected in this way must be active and hovering.

Description

Raenoir is an aged and illustrious figure to behold. He is an aged Renovan tiefling of a deep navy complexion and a lightly armored cloak, replete in the colors of Renovan regalia. Four large orbs of tumbled sapphire surround him at all times, hovering about his form like a ring surrounds a planet. He is solitary and highly introverted, preferring the company of his orbs or a quill to his comrades. Those that do catch him talking find him very eloquent, if not terse and starkly logical.

Raenoir is, above all else, creative. After graduating from Venraele University with Honors in Creative Arcana, he dedicated his life to the craft of enchanted paintings and fantasy novels. However, he was called to arms by the Renovan military and became the soldier the empire needed, further proving himself on the battlefield into the stead of a high-ranking, if not reluctant, leader. He longs for nothing else than to return home to his paintings and his books, and if putting a swift end to this rebellion that has gone on for long enough means he can get back to his novels, he will show no mercy.

Personality. "I prefer the company of my quill or my brushes to my comrades, but if the talk is of art and magic, I'm there."
Ideal. "Artistry. Regardless of form or quality, art in all forms must be engaged in, celebrated, and protected by all for the sake of our civilization."
Bond. "My magnum opus is in progress. I just need to get out of this military station and finish it."
Flaw. "I am unflinching and uncompromising when it comes to completing a task. Once I get started, it's difficult to get me to stop."
