Description

Coral Dragons are beautiful dragon children who have slowly infused their life energy with the ocean. These living coral reefs create beautiful underwater scenery that spreads onto land. The dragon's wings have diminished in size over time, and their body has become more appropriate for swimming at high speeds and around tight angles. Despite this, they are still able to fly into the sky, though at some of the slowest speeds recorded for all of dragonkin.

These benevolent creatures treat their home reefs as their hoard, and adorn it with treasures that are claimed by the ocean itself. For this reason, Coral Dragons and Dragon Turtles often violently compete for territory, though Bronze dragons have been welcomed by the Coral dragons with open arms. It is believed that the first Coral Dragons were in fact Bronze Dragons who made their lairs in the ocean, rather than beside it, which is why they have an amicable relation. Over time, they have become the draconic embodiment of fertility and life, as life itself flourishes wherever they make their home.

Lair and Lair Actions

A Coral Dragon makes its home in large bodies of water, and is able to sustain its life in fresh or brackish water. Wherever the home of a Coral dragon, a beautiful and dazzling coral reef is sure to grow healthy and strong, sometimes even out of water. These magnificent sights often draw the attention of the welcome Bronze dragons, but also Dragon turtles who have a fight on sight relationship with Coral Dragons.

Coral Growth. The area within one mile of the lair grows a magically sustained coral reed and coral life in and out of water. The stones become dark and illuminate at night, giving an awe inspiring sight.

Purified Water. The water source that the dragon resides in, or within one mile, becomes safe for any creature to drink. A creature with an Intelligence of 7 or higher that drinks the water becomes filled with creative inspiration for 24 hours.

Life for the Sea. Species who live near a Coral Dragons lair grow 25% faster than others of the same species who do not. After a generation, slowly the species becomes more and more naturally advantageous in water, such as bluer skin, amphibious breath, and a faster natural swim speed.

Lair Actions: On initiative count 20, loosing initiative ties, the dragon can choose one of the following Lair actions. Once used, an action cannot be used again until the rest have been, or 1 hour passes

Control Weather. The dragon casts Control Weather to cause a rainstorm for the duration.

Torrent. A strong current fills the lair, becoming difficult terrain for everyone except the dragon for the next round.

Coral Eruption. In a 30 foot line that is five feet wide that the dragon can see sprouts a wall of coral. Any creature in that line takes 3d6 force damage as they are pushed out of the way. The space becomes difficult terrain, and for every five feet of movement a creature medium or larger spends in the terrain, they take 1d8 Poison damage. Standing on the opposite side of the coral grants 3/4 cover.
