Predatory Instincts
The Ashen Vyrathi has advantage on attack rolls against a creature if at least one of the Vyrathi’s allies is within 5 feet of the creature and the ally isn’t incapacitated.
Ash-Marked Authority
Allied Vyrathi within 30 feet of the War-Sage gain a +2 bonus to melee damage rolls and have advantage on saving throws against being frightened.
Omen-Bound Survivor
The first time the War-Sage would be reduced to 0 hit points, it is instead reduced to 1 hit point, and each allied Vyrathi within 30 feet may immediately move up to half its speed towards whatever creature caused it to go to 0 hit points without provoking opportunity attacks. If any allied Vyrathi gets within melee range of that creature, they may take 1 attack with their preferred weapon.
Multiattack
The Ashen Vyrathi makes two attacks, choosing from its ritual spear or bite.
Ritual Spear
Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target.
Hit: 11 (1d8 + 7) piercing damage plus 7 (2d6) necrotic damage.
Bite
Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target.
Hit: 13 (1d10 + 8) piercing damage.
Ashen Decree (Recharge 5–6)
The War-Sage speaks a low, grinding command steeped in omen and pact.
Up to two allied Vyrathi within 30 feet can immediately use their reaction to make one melee attack, adding 1d8 extra damage on a hit.
Voice of the Withering Pact
One allied Vyrathi the War-Sage can see within 30 feet gains advantage on its next melee attack before the end of its next turn.
If that attack hits, the target takes an extra 7 (2d6) damage.
Ash-Sign Warning
The War-Sage marks an enemy it can see within 60 feet with a subtle omen until the start of its next turn.
The first melee attack made against that creature by an allied Vyrathi has advantage.
Ashen Inspiration
When an allied Vyrathi within 20 feet is hit by an attack, the War-Sage can inspire that ally, causing any damage to the ally to be halved.
Description
Combat Role & Tactics
- The Ashen Vyrathi never leads the charge
- It positions centrally, behind War-Blood or Obsidian melee units
- Prioritizes buffs, reactions, and forced positioning
- Uses Ashen Decree to overwhelm single targets
- Retreats only if the omen turns against it
Where a War-Blood Reaver is feared, an Ashen War-Sage is obeyed.
