Shapechanger. Abel can use a bonus action to polymorph into a Large panther, or back into his humanoid form. His statistics are the same in each form, except his speed changes. In panther form, Abel’s speed is 50 ft. and he has a climb speed of 40 ft.
Controlled Shift. Abel has full control of his transformations. Once on each of his turns, Abel can shift between humanoid form and panther form before or after making an attack (no action required). Abel can’t take actions that require hands while in panther form.
Keen Smell. Abel has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.
Regeneration (Humanoid Form Only). Abel regains 2 hit points at the start of his turn if he has at least 1 hit point and is in humanoid form. This trait does not function if Abel has taken damage from a silvered weapon since the end of his last turn.
Pounce (Panther Form Only). If Abel moves at least 20 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with a Claw attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 16 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, Abel can make one Bite attack against it as a bonus action. If Abel uses this bonus Bite, he cannot make a Bite attack as part of his Multiattack on the same turn.
Last Survivor. Abel becomes more dangerous when outnumbered.

Outnumbered Guard: At the start of Abel’s turn, if 3 or more enemies are within 30 feet of him, he gains 15 temporary hit points.

Packbreaker: Once on each of Abel’s turns, when he hits with a Claw or Bite, he deals an extra 7 (2d6) damage if 2 or more enemies are within 10 feet of him.
Legendary Resistance (2/Day). If Abel fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.
Multiattack (Humanoid Form Only). Abel makes three Obsidian Knife attacks.
Multiattack (Panther Form Only). Abel makes three attacks: two Claw attacks and one Bite attack.
Bite (Panther Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d8 + 5) piercing damage.
Claw (Panther Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d6 + 5) slashing damage.
Obsidian Knife Throw (Humanoid Form Only). Ranged Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, range 30/90 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) piercing damage. If Abel hit the same creature with a Claw attack this turn, the knife deals an extra 3 (1d6) damage.
Canopy Blur (Recharge 5–6). Abel moves up to half his speed without provoking opportunity attacks. Until the start of his next turn, attack rolls against Abel have disadvantage if he is in foliage, mist, heavy rain, or dim light.
Prowl (Panther Form Only). Abel moves up to his speed without provoking opportunity attacks. At the end of this movement, Abel can take the Hide action.
Predator’s Slip. When a creature Abel can see hits him with an attack, Abel moves 10 feet without provoking opportunity attacks. If Abel ends this movement in foliage, mist, heavy rain, or dim light, he can attempt to Hide.
Abel can take 2 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. Abel regains spent legendary actions at the start of his turn.
1) Stalk. Abel moves up to 20 feet without provoking opportunity attacks.
2) Strike. Abel makes one Claw attack (panther form only) or one Obsidian Knife attack (humanoid form only).
3) Drag Under (Costs 2 Actions). One creature Abel can reach must succeed on a DC 16 Strength saving throw or be pulled 10 feet and knocked prone.
Description
In humanoid form, Abel Lone-River stands 6’8”, muscular but lean, with long black hair and tanned skin. Fresh scars mark his ribs and shoulder. He speaks low and measured, calm and somber even when threatened. In panther form, Abel becomes a massive obsidian black predator with intelligent eyes and pale scar lines through its fur. His movements are nearly silent. He does not hunt for sport. He hunts to enforce a boundary.
