Traits

Stench. Any creature that starts its turn within 5 feet of the akaname must succeed on a DC 10 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned until the start of its next turn. On a successful saving throw, the creature is immune to the akaname's Stench for 24 hours.

Spider Climb. The akaname can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.

Sunlight Sensitivity. While in sunlight, the akaname has disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.

Actions

Tongue. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 10 ft., one creature. Hit: The target is grappled (escape DC 12). Until the grapple ends, the target is restrained and has disadvantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws, and the akaname can't use its tongue on another target. Each round after the first that the target is grappled, the target must succeed a DC 10 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned and take 9 (2d8) poison damage.

Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) slashing damage, and the target must succeed a DC 10 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned and take 9 (2d8) poison damage, or half as much damage on a successful save. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Description

The akaname live for filth. They revel in muck and grime, seeking out the dirtiest homes and public baths in which to lick up the refuse left by neglect or unsanitary owners with their long tongues. Though cowardly, scattering before bright light like cockroaches, they can be ferocious if backed into a corner or if they outnumber the intruders. Because of this, many people living near where akaname are spotted keep their homes fastidiously clean.

Akaname are roughly humanoid creatures about the size of a tall halfling with greasy black hair and grimy skin that can come in a variety of colors. While physical features such the number of eyes, fingers, and toes can vary between individuals, all akaname have razor-sharp claws and sticky tongues twice as long as their bodies are tall, which they use to lap up slime, grease, and other filth.
