Driver Needed: To operate the Auto Steed, a creature must take the driver's seat. There movement becomes Auto Steeds movement, they must use the vehicles Dexterity, Strength, and Constitution scores for all driving checks and saves, and they can only take actions from the steed action and bonus action list. If the creature has Proficiency with land vehicles, they can add there proficiency bonus to all driving checks and vehicle saves.
Ram Through: If you move through another creatures space they roll a DEX save against a DC of 8 + 1/10th of your current movement speed, taking 1d6 per 10 ft of your current movement in bludgeoning damage on a fail or half as much on a success. You then roll a STR save of the same DC, taking half damage on a fail ignoring thresholds and no damage on a success.
Independent Targets: When targeting the Auto Steed, creatures may select the following targets using the AC and Health listed below (frame listed above). If targeted by an area of effect spell or ability, all damage is dealt to the highest health target first.
- Wheels: 19 AC (22 if driving) 10 Threshold, 30 HP(2d10+20). If one of the wheels hits 0 hp, roll a DEX save against a DC of 8 + 1/10th of your current movement speed crashing on a fail dealing 1d6 per 10 ft of your current movement in bludgeoning damage to all targets ignoring all thresholds or coming to a stop on a success dealing half as much damage not ignoring thresholds.
- Engine: 21 AC (24 if driving) 20 Threshold, 20 HP(1d10+20). If the Engine hits 0 hp, roll a CON save against a DC of 8 + 1/10th of your current movement speed, on a fail the engine explodes dealing 3d8 fire damage per gear the engine was in to everything within 10 ft of the Auto Carriage or stalling on a success dealing no damage.
- Passenger/Driver: No Cover (half cover if driving), use creatures health. If the Driver hits 0 hp, the closest passenger rolls a DEX save against a DC of 8 + 1/10th of your current movement speed crashing on a fail dealing 1d6 per 10 ft of your current movement in bludgeoning damage to all targets ignoring all thresholds or taking control on a save.
Variable Speeds: The Auto Steed has multiple gears. They apply the following effects and can be changed as a bonus action:
- 1st Gear: Your speed is 90 ft. You take triple movement to go backwards. You must move at least 60 ft in a straight line to be considered driving.
- 2nd Gear: Your speed is 120 ft. You can't go backwards. You are always considered driving and must use at least 90 ft of movement each turn.
- 3rd Gear: Your speed is 150 ft. You can't go backwards. You can only move left or right 5 ft at a time and must move 5 ft forward to do so again. You are always considered driving and must use at least 120 ft of movement each turn.
- 4th Gear: Your speed is 180 ft. You can't go backwards. You can only move left or right 5 ft at a time and must move 10 ft forward to do so again. You are always considered driving and must use at least 150 ft of movement each turn.
Evasive Driving(2nd Gear or higher only): attacks targeting you have disadvantage until the start of your next turn. Roll a DEX save against a DC of 8 + 1/10th of your current movement speed, moving down a gear on a fail.
Drift Turn(2nd Gear or higher only): You may immediately turn up to 180 degrees. Roll a DEX save against a DC of 8 + 1/10th of your current movement speed, moving down a gear on a fail.
Shift Gears: Move up or down 1 Gear
Down Shift(2nd Gear or higher only): Gain advantage on the next vehicle save and move down a gear.
Description
The Auto Steed is an experimental transportation device replacing a horse. The arcane engine instead runs on mana, either through mana battery crystals or a caster using spell energy to provide power in a pinch. The engine can hold enough power for 6 days of constant use or 15 days of occasional travel. A caster can fuel the engine by expending spell energy equal to 8 hours X the level of the spell expended. Mana battery crystals are more efficient, providing power equal to 2 days per crystal rarity.
