Simple Move. The King can only move 5 ft, in any direction.
Royal. Royal Defense. When the King is reduced to 40 hit points or fewer for the first time, it automatically casts Sanctuary without expending a spell slot.
Initiative color. If the King is a light color, it has an initiative of 20; if it is a dark color, its initiative is 0.
Legendary Resistance (2/Day). If the king fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.
Key Role. If the King dies, all other pieces of the same color as the King vanish in dust.
Capture. Melee Attack Roll: +6, reach 0 ft. Hit: 19 (3d10 + 4) Bludgeoning damage. The target is pushed 5 ft away. This action is only possible if the King is in the same square as the target.
Spellcasting. The King can use the following spells:
At will : Shield, Bless, Misty Step
1/day (each): Spirit Guardians, Mass Healing Word, Sanctuary
Legendary Action Uses: 2. Immediately after another creature's turn , the King can expend a use to take one of the following actions. The King regains all expended uses at the start of each of its turns.
Ruler of the Board (Costs 1 Action). One allied chess piece within 30 feet can immediately use its reaction to move or make one attack, with advantage.
Spellcasting (Costs 1 Action). The King can cast one of its spells.
