Traits

Rose-Garden Camouflage. The panther has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks made to hide in terrain with heavy foliage, flowers, or thorny briars.

Thorn-Claw Grapple. The panther’s claws are made of crystalline thorns. When the panther hits a creature with a claw attack, the target is Grappled (escape DC 14). Until this grapple ends, the target takes 3 (1d6) piercing damage at the start of each of its turns.

Pounce. If the panther moves at least 20 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with a claw attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 14 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the panther can make one bite attack against it as a bonus action.

Actions

Multiattack. The panther makes two attacks: one with its bite and one with its claws.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d10 + 4) piercing damage plus 4 (1d8) necrotic damage as it drinks the target's life force.

Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage.

The Crimson Bloom (1/Day). The rosebud on the panther's tail erupts into a violent, blood-red bloom. For 1 minute, the panther deals an extra 4 (1d8) necrotic damage on all melee hits, and it regains hit points equal to the necrotic damage dealt.

Bonus Actions

Petal-Drift Step. The panther briefly dissolves into a flurry of deep burgundy rose petals and magically teleports up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space it can see. If it ends this movement within 5 feet of a creature, it has advantage on its next attack roll against that creature before the end of its turn.

Reactions

Thorn-Shield Riposte. When a creature within 5 feet hits the panther with a melee attack, the panther’s crystalline thorns suddenly extend and sharpen. The attacker must succeed on a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw or take 7 (2d6) piercing damage and be pushed up to 10 feet away.

Description

Directly inspired by Lady Eirwyn the Red Bloom and the pool of blood beneath her throne.

Appearance. A feline predator with fur the color of deep burgundy roses. Instead of claws, it has sharp, crystal-like thorns. Its tail ends in a single, un-bloomed rosebud.

Unique Feature. The panther is literally sustained by the "Red Bloom" magic. When the court is at peace, the rose on its tail stays closed. If the Heart-Throne is in danger, the rose blooms, and the panther enters a "frenzy" state where its fur turns into sharpened brambles.

Role. The "pet" of the throne room, often found lounging near the pool of blood or at the feet of the Lady herself.
