Sunlight Tolerance: Zark was born albino, but a rare mutation in his draconic blood prevents the light sensitivity common to kobolds. He has unsettling red eyes and scales pale as bone, but they are adapted rather than weakened, allowing him to function normally in full sunlight. Among the tribe, this is seen as an extremely rare and unsettling anomaly rather than a blessing.
Darkvision: Zark can see in dim light up to 60 feet from him as if it were bright light, and in darkness up to 60 feet from him as if it were dim light.
Pack Tactics: Zark has advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of the other cloister kobolds is within 5 feet of him and doesn’t have the incapacitated condition.
Limited Multiattack: Zark makes two short sword attacks against an insulted target (see Bonus Actions).
Scimitar: Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) piercing damage.
Provoking Insult: Zark can hurl a vicious insult at any creature he can see within 30 feet that can hear him. The target must succeed on a DC 11 Wisdom check or become rattled by Zark’s taunts until the end of Zark’s next turn. While rattled, Zark can make two scimitar attacks against that creature on his turn.
None.
Description
Unlike most kobolds, Zark moves confidently in open daylight, and that alone set him apart early. While others learned caution and numbers, he learned speed, aggression, and the value of striking first. Zark is stronger and more capable than his peers, and he knows it. The constant taunts and insults are not bravado. They are bait. His favorite taunts are “Eat my sword, bugbear breath!” and “Your father was a gas spore!” He wants opponents angry and sloppy because he is very good at finishing fights quickly. Otherwise, he is indifferent toward cloister visitors.
His better armor and weaponry were not given to him. He took them during a single foray beyond the confines of the cloister, where he encountered the remains of a shipwreck and several undead sailors still clinging to it. The fight was brief and violent. When it was over, he salvaged and adapted what he could carry. The scimitar and studded leather he wears are proof of that encounter, and no one has questioned how he got them.
Among the kobolds, he is tolerated, feared, and quietly relied upon. He may be obnoxious, but when something dangerous approaches the cloister in daylight or dark, everyone knows exactly who will be standing at the front.
