Traits

Amphibious. The Ghastly Inkling can breathe air and water.

Mocking Grin Disease. A creature with this disease, smiles uncontrollably and seems happy even in dire situtions. The infected creature gains one level of exhaustion that can’t be removed until the disease is cured.

Any event that causes the infected creature great stress — including entering combat, taking damage, experiencing fear, or having a nightmare — forces the creature to make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature gains another level of exhaustion. If a creature reaches 6 levels of exhaustion. It removes all exhaustion, its alignment becomes chaotic evil and it gains the following flaw:"Nothing can stop me from smiling, everything makes me happy."

Mucous Secretion. The Ghastly Inkling is surrounded by poisonous mucus. A creature that touches the Ghastly Inkling or that hits it with a melee attack while within 5 feet of it must make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw. On a failure, the creature gains the Mocking Grin disease above.

Gummed Tentacles. The Ghastly Inkling mucus makes its tentacles Adhesive. It has advantage on all strength checks.

Actions

Multiattack. The Ghastly Inkling makes four tentacle attacks.

Tentacle. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 17 Constitution saving throw or become diseased (Mocking Grin trait). The disease can be removed by any magic that cures disease. The target is also grappled. The Ghastly Inkling has four tentacles, each of which can grapple one target.

Obscuring Veil (Recharge 6). The ghastly inkling casts darkness at a point within 120 feet of it, requiring no components. While the spell persists, the ghastly inkling is unaffected by this darkness.

Metamorphosis. (Recharge 6). One humanoid that the ghastly inkling has grappled and is affected by the mocking grin disease, must succeed on a DC 16 Charisma saving throw or be metamorphosed by the ghastly inkling. the ghastly inkling then disappears, and the target is incapacitated and loses control of its body. The ghastly inkling now controls the body but doesn't deprive the target of awareness. The ghastly inkling can't be targeted by any attack, spell, or other effect, and it retains its alignment, Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma. It otherwise uses the target's statistics, but doesn't gain access to the target's knowledge, class features, or proficiencies.

The metamorphosis lasts until the body drops to 0 hit points, the ghastly inkling ends it as a bonus action, or the ghastly inkling is forced out by an effect like the dispel evil and good spell. When the metamorphosis ends, the ghastly inkling reappears in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the body. The target is immune to this ghastly inkling's metamorphosis for 24 hours after succeeding on the saving throw or after the metamorphosis ends.

Description

This Ivory colored jellyfish of fiendish nature can only be found in the abyss. This creature of aquatic nature lives off other creatures that dare cross its path. Its name coming from the fact that it is much like a ghost, semi transparent and seemingly made out of ink. White it can produce an ink like substance that acts as a veil of darkness to conceal its form. It is not something it uses often. This creature is also responsible for a rare disease called the mocking grin. The diseases target usually smiles uncontrollably at everything and every situations. this disease though bening in its nature, leads people into madness. the ghastly inkling can then use the mad person as a vessel for its own benefits. Entering the creatures mouth and metamorphosing the creature into an oddly shapen version of itself. The victims eyes doubles in size and slowly comes out of their orbit. turning jet black with ink like substance. the mouth unhinges and cracks open from ear to ear, showing sharpened teeths. the creature being controlled by tentacles seems to move oddly as if being puppeteered by strings. The ghastly creature seemingly wanting more happyness by torturing the poor soul it has taken over. making it do tings it usually wouldn't do or even think of. Acts of torture or self inflicted wounds to capturing and torturing beloved friends or familly. these creatures only lives to enjoy rendering others mad.
