Traits

Utter Invincibility. The Crawling Claw is immune to all damage. The only way to destroy it is by pouring a single drop of Holy Water on it, causing the Crawling Claw to disintegrate into a pile of ash. 

Legendary Resistance (7/Day). Whenever the Crawling Claw fails a Saving Throw, it can choose to succeed instead. 

Complete Magic Immunity. The Crawling Claw is immune to all magical effects, abilities, and spells that affect it. 

Undying. After the Crawling Claw dies, it regenerates with a new body after 24 hours, recovering completely. 

Unusual Nature. The Crawling Claw does not require air, drink, food, or sleep. 

Highly Reactive. The Crawling Claw can take a Reaction on every turn of combat and has 3 Bonus Actions on its turn. 

Soul Snatcher. After the Crawling Claw reduces a creature to 0 HP, it steals the soul of the target. The slain creature immediately dies as their spirit departs, and the Crawling Claw gains an additional Action on its turn. There is not limit to how many times this can happen.

Mighty Weapons. The Crawling Claw's attacks are considered magical for the purpose of overcoming certain Resistances and Immunities that players have.

Turn Immunity. The Crawling Claw is immune to any effects that turn Undead.

 

Actions

Multiattack. The Crawling Claw makes eight of the following attacks below in any combination it chooses:

Slam of Obliteration. Melee Weapon Attack: +20 to hit, reach 10 ft., all creatures in a 10 ft. sphere centered on the target. Hit: 60 Bludgeoning damage and 30 Force damage to every creature in the sphere. Hit or Miss: Those creatures are knocked Prone. 

Punch of Annihilation. Melee Weapon Attack: +20 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target within range. Hit: 70 Bludgeoning damage, 10 Cold damage, and the target must succeed a DC 30 Constitution Saving Throw or be Paralyzed for 1 turn. 

Flick of Life Eradication. Ranged Weapon Attack: +20 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target within range. Hit: 40 Bludgeoning damage, 40 Necrotic damage, 20 Force damage, and the target must succeed a DC 20 Constitution Saving Throw or take double the damage.

Snap of Extinction. DC 26 Dexterity Saving Throw: all creatures within 120 ft. Fail: 90 Necrotic damage. Success: Half damage only.

Poke of Puncturing. Melee Weapon Attack: +20 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target within range. Hit: 80 Piercing damage and the target suffers the Stunned condition. 

Fist of Destruction. DC 26 Dexterity Saving Throw: All creatures in a 30 ft. long line that is 5 ft. wide. Fail: Targets take 40 Bludgeoning damage, 40 Fire damage, 20 Force damage, and are pushed 15 ft. back. Success: Half damage only.

Claw of Catastrophe. Melee Weapon Attack: +20 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target within range. Hit: 60 Slashing damage, 40 Necrotic damage, and the target's Hit Point maximum decreases by an amount equal to half the damage taken. 

Swipe of Oblivion. DC 26 Dexterity Saving Throw: All creatures within 20 ft. of the Crawling Claw. Hit: 50 Slashing damage, 20 Fire damage, and targets become vulnerable to all damage until their next turn. 

Yeet of Doom. DC 26 Strength Saving Throw: One target within 10 ft. that is Large or smaller. Fail: The Crawling Claw tosses the target 120 ft. in any direction of its choice. The target and all creatures within 15 ft. of the impact area will take 100 Bludgeoning damage and be knocked Prone.

Finger of Inescapable Death. Ranged Weapon Attack: +20 to hit, range 90 ft., one target. Hit: The target takes 90 Necrotic damage and 20 Cold damage. Miss: Half damage only.

The Unholy Middle Finger. DC 30 Wisdom Saving Throw: one target within 70 ft. Fail: 70 Psychic damage, 40 Necrotic damage, and the target suffers the effects of the Confusion spell for 1 turn. 

 

Bonus Actions

Grasp of Calamity. DC 26 Strength Saving Throw: One creature within 10 ft. of the Crawling Claw. Fail: The target takes 30 Bludgeoning damage, 30 Force damage, and is Grappled by the Crawling Claw. Until the Grapple ends, the target is also Restrained. The creature can repeat the Saving Throw on their turn to remove these effects. 

Unrelenting Grip. One creature Grappled by the Crawling Claw takes 20 Bludgeoning damage and 10 Force damage. 

Life-Draining Squeeze. One creature Grappled by the Crawling Claw must succeed a DC 20 Constitution Saving Throw or be reduced to 0 HP. 

Reactions

Retaliation. Trigger: A creature within 10 ft. of the Crawling Claw makes a melee attack. Response: The Crawling Claw makes a free attack against that creature using any of its abilities (*See Actions).

Evasive Dodge. Trigger: A creature hits the Crawling Claw with an attack roll. Response: The Crawling Claw imposes Disadvantage on the attack rolls and gains +5 Armor Class against that attack. 

 

 

Description

Aabaloth, Vecna's Folly, was a highly inventive and creative archlich with powers exceeding his creator. However, he could not directly influence the fall of Vecna from his imprisoned state in the Shadowfell, thus cutting off his own hand and growing it to enormous size. This hand, being removed from its master, was free to wander anywhere it pleased, thus making its way to the Material Plane in pursuit for its sworn enemy; the Whispered One. Aabaloth's Ultimate Crawling Claw was born,  bent on the complete destruction and annihilation of the dread necromancer of the Realms.
