Traits
Construct Nature. The Archive Observer doesn’t require air, food, drink, or sleep.
Immutable Form. The observer is immune to any spell or effect that would alter its form.
Librarian’s Extension. While within 120 feet of a Warforged Librarian, the observer can relay sensory information to it instantly and has advantage on Perception checks.
Silent Hover. The observer has advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks while hovering and makes no sound unless it chooses to.

Melee or Ranged Spell Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 60 ft., one target.
Hit: 9 (2d6 + 2) force damage.
Suppressive Rune (Recharge 5–6)
The observer projects a flickering rune of containment.

Silence Rune (3/Day)
The observer emits a brief null-hum of arcane order.

Impact resistance

When the observer is targeted by a spell of 3rd level or lower, it gains advantage on the saving throw. On a success, the caster takes 5 (1d10) psychic damage as feedback from forbidden annotations.

Description
The Archive Observers were devised as the ever-watchful attendants of the Librarians of Umbermoth, fashioned to see where even immortal guardians could not. Where a Librarian stood as judgment and authority, the Observers were presence and memory.
Each Observer was constructed from a lattice of arcane brass and crystal lenses, etched with indexing runes derived from Brumble Bixby’s lesser sigils of binding. Though lacking true souls, they were imbued with fragmentary imprints—echoes of intent rather than identity—allowing them to distinguish threat from scholar, intruder from keeper.
In the days before the Collapse, Observers drifted endlessly through the stacks, cataloging movement, recording borrowed tomes, and enforcing silence with gentle precision. They did not question, nor did they forget. Every footstep, whispered incantation, and misplaced volume was logged within their internal matrices and relayed to the Librarians in real time.
Following the fall of Umbermoth, many Observers continue their patrols without interruption, unaware that the city they serve lies in ruin. Others, damaged or isolated from their Librarians, have begun to behave erratically overzealous in their enforcement, or obsessively repeating long-obsolete protocols. Scholars who have encountered such constructs report being restrained, silenced, or marked for “review” for infractions no longer understood by living minds.
