Traits

Mimic Voice. The Windigo can perfectly imitate any voice it has heard. A creature hearing the voice must succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom (insight) check to realize the voice is false.

Hunter of the Lost. If the Windigo begins combat hidden, it's first attack deals an extra 2d6 damage.

Starving Hunter. If the Windigo reduces a creature to 0 hit points, it gains 10 temporary hit points as it feeds.

Tree Strider. While in forest terrain, the Wendigo can move through difficult terrain without penalty and may hide as a bonus action.

Actions

Multiattack The Wendigo makes two claw attacks,

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 10 ft., 1 target. Hit: 7 (1d10 + 4) [slashing] damage.

If both claw attacks hit the same creature in one turn, the target must succeed on a DC 13 Strength save or be knocked prone.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, range 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 10 (2d8 + 4) [piercing] damage.

If the target is grappled or prone, the Windigo deals an additional 1d6 necrotic damage.

Terrifying Howl (Recharge 5-6). The Windigo releases a hollow, starving scream. Creatures within 30 ft. must make a DC 13 Wisdon saving throw. Failure: frightened for 1 minute. Success: immune to the howl for 24 hours. A frighten creature can repeat the save at the end of its turn.

Bonus Actions

Shadow Between Trees. While in a forest, the Windigo can move up to 20 feet without provoking opportunity attacks if it moves from one tree or heavy cover to another.

Description

The Wendigo is one of those legends that crawled out of winter forests and refused to leave human imagination. In Algonquian folklore the creature represents hunger that never ends—the kind that eats morality first, then people.
