Traits

Aura of Cold. The area in a 10-foot radius around the Animated Ice Sculpture is freezing cold. Creatures without resistance or immunity to cold damage treat the area within the aura as magical difficult terrain.

Actions

Multiattack. The Animated Ice Sculpture makes two attacks with its Ice Longsword.

Ice Longsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) slashing damage, and the target takes an additional 5(2d4) cold damage. The target must make a DC 13 Constitution Saving Throw or have its speed reduced by 10 feet until the start of the ice sculpture's next turn.

Description

Tactics. The animated ice sculpture serves best as a front-line fighter. Its Aura of Cold and the speed reduction on its Ice Longsword significantly impair movement for PC melee fighters, thus keeping the ice sculpture's allies in the back safe. It pairs best with spellcasters that can cast spells like cone of cold, such as a Bheur Hag since its immunity to cold damage means those spellcasters don't have to worry about including them in the area of the spell.

However, its long-range fight is nonexistent, so it might be best to include an ally that excels at dealing with ranged PC characters like rogues and rangers. Flying creatures that can bypass the party's front line and threaten ranged characters are a good example.
