Traits

Spider Climb. The carrion crawler can climb difficult surfaces, including along ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.

Quick Form. If the carrion moved at least 20 feet last turn, its AC goes up by 3 temporarily for that round. Additionally, opportunity attacks have disadvantage on the carrion crawler.

Actions

Multiattack. The carrion crawler uses Paralyzing Tentacles and makes three Bite attacks.

Bite. Melee Attack Roll: +7, reach 5 ft. Hit: 12 (2d6 + 5) Piercing damage plus 7 (2d6) Poison damage.

Paralyzing Tentacles. Constitution Saving Throw: DC 15, one creature the carrion crawler can see within 10 feet. Failure: The target has the Poisoned condition and repeats the save at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. After 1 minute, it succeeds automatically. While Poisoned, the target has the Paralyzed condition.

Description

The Ancient Carrion Crawler is what only the most successful Carrions can ascend to--becoming the peak their species has to offer. Carrion Crawlers, if they live to the age of about 500 years on a plane where predators are around every corner, get to become the new top predators in the Underdark--or at least in their area in the Underdark. Making all who enter their domain fearful of their potential presence and the many children they are likely to have.
