Traits

Compression. The Skarrote can move through any opening at least 1 inch wide without squeezing. It can also squeeze to fit into a space that a Tiny creature could fit in.

Unusual Nature. The Skarrote doesn’t require sleep, food, water, or air.

Actions

Multiattack. The Skarrote makes two Slam attacks. If both attacks hit a Large or smaller creature, the creature is grappled (escape DC 13), and the boneless can use Suffocating Embrace.

Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (2d4 + 3) bludgeoning damage.

Suffocating Embrace. The Skarrote wraps its body around a Large or smaller creature grappled by it. While the Skarrote is attached, the target is blinded and is unable to breathe. The target must succeed on a DC 14 Strength saving throw at the start of each of the boneless’ turns or take 7 (2d4 + 3) bludgeoning damage. If something moves the target, the Skarrote moves with it. The Skarrote can detach itself by spending 5 feet of its movement. A creature, including the target, can use its action to try to detach the Skarrote and force it to move into the nearest unoccupied space, doing so with a successful DC 13 Strength check. When the Skarrote dies, it detaches from any creature it is attached to.

Reactions

Swap Bodies. As a reaction to being attacked, the Skarrote makes an attack with advantage against the creature attacking it. If the attack lands, the Skarrote removes itself from the current body and latches onto the new target. This reaction can only be used if the Skarrote is currently attached to a creature.

Description

A Skarrote is an enhanced variant of the Boneless undead sometimes found around the world. It has increased strength and constitution, and its attacks are considerably stronger. Any adventurer would be wise to remove themselves from the area should a Skarrote be sighted, as that can only mean its creator, Flayer the Sane, is either nearby or has been in the area recently.
