Amorphous. The blood ooze can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing.
Detect Sentience. The blood ooze can sense the presence and location of any creature within 300 feet of it that has an Intelligence of 3 or higher, regardless of interposing barriers, unless the creature is protected by a mind blank spell.
Variant: Intelligent Blood Ooze
A blood ooze that lives a long time can evolve to become more intelligent and develop limited magical ability. Such occurrences are more common in blood oozes that live near magical creatures such as wandering wizards and hermits, suggesting that the ooze can sense and mimic magical abilities.
An intelligent blood ooze has an intelligence score of 16 (+3), as well as the following additional action.
Innate Spellcasting. The blood ooze's innate spellcasting ability is Intelligence (spell save DC 15). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no components:
3/day each: charm person (as 5th-level spell), color spray, detect thoughts, hold person (as 3rd-level spell)
Description
Blood Ooze Origins. A disease inflicted by a contagion spell, otherwise known as Slimy Doom, typically causes a creature to bleed uncontrollably. It's blood slowly turning into gelatin until they can no longer function. However in rare cases, the weave gives birth to a blood ooze. These creatures are born within bodies and tend to go from host to host. As they go from body to body, the memories and knowledge they accumulate eventually grants the blood ooze sentience. This makes them especially hard to deal with when they can control the blood flow of their bodies, becoming resilient to most physical damage along with being able to cast any spells they might have in their arsenal.
Deadly Puppet Masters. A blood ooze consumes a creature’s body and memories, then turns the host body into a puppet under its control. A blood ooze typically uses its puppet host to survive and perform complicated actions a normal ooze wouldn't be able to; often going from host to host much like a hermit crab would.
