Traits

Abyssal Existence:

The Λήθη does not breathe. It exists equally within water, air, and the crushing darkness between.

  • The Λήθη is immune to suffocation.
  • Difficult terrain caused by water, mud, or pressure does not affect it.
  • Creatures within 30 feet underwater hear distorted whispers from the Λήθη.

Impossible Presence

Reality bends around the Λήθη, rejecting attempts to bind or weaken it.

  • When the Λήθη fails a saving throw, it can twist space around itself and reroll the save.
  • The second result must be used.
  • Creatures within 60 feet who witness this must succeed on a Wisdom save or become Frightened until the end of their next turn.

Devourer of Shores

Structures collapse merely from the Λήθη moving near them.

  • Nonmagical structures and objects within 20 feet of the Λήθη tremble violently.
  • The Λήθη ignores resistance dealt by objects and structures.
  • When it damages a structure, debris explodes outward; creatures within 15 feet must make a Dexterity saving throw or take bludgeoning damage.
Actions

Multiattack

The Λήθη makes two Abyssal Tendril attacks and uses either Cataclysmic Cast, Crushing Current, or Devour into Silence.

Abyssal Tendril

Melee Attack Roll: +17, reach 30 ft.
Hit: 24 (4d6 + 10) Bludgeoning damage.

The target is Grappled (escape DC 20) by one of the Λήθη’s tendrils. Until the grapple ends, the creature is Restrained and begins hearing distant whispers from beneath the sea.

Crushing Current

The Λήθη hurls a creature seized within its currents.

A Large or smaller creature Grappled by the Λήθη is violently dragged and hurled toward a point within 60 feet.

Creatures in the impact area must make a DC 25 Dexterity Saving Throw.

  • Failure: 18 (4d8) Bludgeoning damage and Prone.
  • Success: Half damage only.

Void Pulse

The Λήθη releases a pulse of abyssal pressure and black bioluminescence.

Dexterity Saving Throw: DC 23, one creature within 120 feet.

  • Failure: 33 (6d10) Psychic or Force damage.
  • Success: Half damage.

Devour into Silence

The Λήθη opens a shifting abyss within its body.

Dexterity Saving Throw: DC 25, one creature Grappled by the Λήθη.

  • Failure: 23 (3d8 + 10) Piercing damage.
  • Large or smaller creatures are swallowed.

A swallowed creature:

  • is Restrained,
  • has Total Cover,
  • takes 24 (7d6) Acid or Psychic damage at the start of each turn,
  • and begins losing fragments of memory.

A creature reduced to 0 hit points while swallowed is forgotten by all creatures for 24 hours.

 

Legendary Actions

Legendary Action Uses

Immediately after another creature’s turn, the Λήθη can expend one use to take one of the following actions.
The Λήθη regains all expended uses at the start of its turn.

Abyssal Pulse

The Λήθη emits a concentrated burst of abyssal force and impossible sound.

One creature the Λήθη can see within 120 feet must succeed on a DC 23 Wisdom or Dexterity Saving Throw (your choice) or take 22 (4d10) Psychic damage.

On a failure, the target also:

  • cannot take Reactions,
  • and hears overwhelming whispers until the end of its next turn.

Black Tide Veil

The waters around the Λήθη erupt into a cloud of black bioluminescent secretion and abyssal spores.

Constitution Saving Throw: DC 23, each creature within a 15-foot emanation while the Λήθη is underwater.

  • Failure:
    • Blinded until the end of the Λήθη’s next turn.
    • Poisoned until the end of the Λήθη’s next turn.
    • The creature perceives horrifying visions beneath the water.

After using this action, the Λήθη moves up to its Speed without provoking Opportunity Attacks.

The Λήθη cannot use this action again until the start of its next turn.

Lair and Lair Actions
