Traits

Special Equipment. Van Richten carries a Hat of Disguise and Ring of Mind Shielding.

Actions

Multiattack. Van Richten makes two Silvered Sword Cane attacks. He can replace one attack with a use of Modified Crossbow.

Silvered Sword Cane. Melee Attack Roll: +6, reach 5 ft. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 3) Slashing damage. If the target is Undead, it takes an extra 10 (3d6) Radiant damage.

Modified Crossbow. Ranged Attack Roll: +6, range 80/320 ft. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 3) Piercing damage. Once per turn, van Richten also creates one of the following effects:

  • Alchemist Vial. The target has the Burning condition (1d6 Acid or Fire). If the target is Undead, the damage becomes 2d6 Radiant damage instead.
  • Ether. Constitution Saving Throw: DC 14. Failure: The target has the Poisoned condition for 1 hour. While Poisoned in this way, the target also has the Unconscious condition. The target wakes up if it takes damage or if a creature within 5 feet of it takes an action to wake it.
  • Wolfsbane. Constitution Saving Throw: DC 14, each creature within 5 feet of the target. Failure: If the creature is a Shape-shifter, it has the Poisoned condition for 1 minute. While Poisoned in this way, the target also has the Blinded condition and loses its damage Immunities. The target repeats the save at the end of its next turn if it is still Poisoned, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Spellcasting. Van Richten casts one of the following spells, requiring no Material components and using Wisdom as the spellcasting ability (spell save DC 14, +6 to hit with spell attacks):

At Will: Detect Evil and Good, Light, Mending, Thaumaturgy
3/Day Each: Cure Wounds, Detect Magic, Lesser Restoration, Protection from Evil and Good
1/Day Each: Death Ward, Dispel Evil and Good, Freedom of Movement, Speak with Dead

Bonus Actions

Inquisitive Mark. Van Richten magically marks one creature he can see within 120 feet. The mark lasts for 1 hour, until the target dies, or until van Richten uses this Bonus Action again. While the target is marked in this way, van Richten has Advantage on attack rolls against the target, and the target gains no benefit from the Invisible condition against van Richten.

Reactions

Uncanny Dodge. Trigger: Van Richten is hit by an attack roll. Response: Van Richten halves the damage (round down) he takes from that attack.
