Traits

Astral Shift. As long as the Arcane Leech Pupa has at least 5 Spell Points, it remains on the Astral Plane. If, for some reason, it drops below 5 Spell Points, the Pupa is immediately shunted to the Material Plane.

Arcane Conduit. As long as the Arcane Leech Pupa has at least 5 Spell Points, its host receives +2 to the ability score linked to its arcane Spell save DC. If for some reason, the host has more than one score linked to an arcane Spell save DC, the score associated with its highest class level is increased. If the class levels are the same, then the highest score is increased.

Arcane Bastion. As long as the Pupa has at least 10 Spell Points, its hosts gains 15 temporary hit points after a long rest.

Dispelled Disruption.  If the Pupa is targeted by the Dispel Magic spell, it immediately loses 10 Spell Points.

Actions

Body Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +4, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 2d6 + 1 bludgeoning damage.

Mind Leech. (1/day)  The Pupa drains the ability score associated with its Arcane Conduit trait, lowering it by 2 points temporarily. The score remains lowered until after the creature completes a long rest. Every time the Pupa uses this ability, it increases its Intelligence by 1 permanently, up to a maximum of 12.

Eclose. Once the Pupa has gained at least 30 Spell Points and has an Intelligence score of at least 10, it can choose to enter its final stage. It must expend all its Spell Points and hatches directly in the Material Plane as an Arcane Leech Adult. For every 5 Spell Points beyond 30 it expends for this action, it receives 10 temporary hit points upon hatching.

Reactions

Power Leech. When the Pupa's host casts an arcane spell, it consumes some of the energy for itself. If the spell is a cantrip or 1st level, it simply sustains the Pupa, if it is 2nd level or above, the Pupa gains 1 Spell Point. Most of the arcane energies go towards the Arcane Leech's transformation into its adult form, which is why it only gains 1 Spell Point per spell.

Description

Once an Arcane Leech Larva pupates, it encapsulates itself in a thick chitin and attaches itself directly to a creature's astral tether: the link between its physical and astral forms. This tether, normally invisible unless a creature is astrally projecting, functions like an umbilical cord for the pupa, allowing it to feed upon its host in a more direct fashion than before.

Even though the Pupa begins as a animalistic predator, it doesn't use its feeding powers wantonly. It is intimately connected to its host, sensing when the creature begins to enter its recuperation and that is the moment it uses its feeding abilities. Because of this and its Arcane Conduit trait, it can remain undetected for long periods of time.
