Traits

Aggressive. As a bonus action, the a blue orc can move up to its speed toward a hostile creature that it can see.

Charge. When a group of 3 or more Blue Orcs use the Aggressive feature noted above to charge together, each orc in the group gains + 2 to their first Damage Rolls against creatures they charge if the orcs moved more than ten feet during the charge, but creatures targeted by the charge also gain + 2 to their first Damage Rolls against the charging orcs.

Surprise. The unnatural pigment of a Blue Orc's skin and hair grant Blue Orcs Advantage on Stealth Skill Checks to Hide in darkness, dim light, or the caves and tunnels of the underdark, allowing them the opportunity to gain Surprise on their initial Attack if an opponent approaches within 30 feet of a hidden Blue Orc. This ability ends when the Orc attacks, moves, enters an area of torchlight or bright light, or when the orc is otherwise discovered.

Tactics. Blue Orcs prefer to Hide and lie in ambush, hoping to Surprise their opponents or to use darkness and stealth to creep within javelin range, then throw a volley of javelins before charging opponents as a group and gaining the Charge Bonus above.

Description

Blue Orcs are burly raiders of the tundra and lands of the north. Like other orcs, Blue Orcs possess prominent lower canines that resemble tusks and gather in tribes. Blue Orcs also prefer to dwell in caves and secluded ruins in the underdark due to the fact that daylight from "The Hateful Sun" hurts their eyes and causes them to suffer Disadvantage on any Attack Rolls or Skill Checks relying on eyesight. Even so, like other orcs, Blue Orcs often travel in Hunting Parties or War Parties at night using dog-sleds pulled by trained wolves and camping during the day in round, domed tents made from animal hide supported by bones called Yurts.

However, Blue Orcs differ from their southern kin worship Auril, the Frostmaiden, and their worship includes sacrificing the oldest or weakest members of their tribe during the longest night of the year in a grewsome ceremony in which the victims are slowly bled to death and their blood collected and preserved. Then the shamen of the tribes use the blood of the orcs sacrificed to Auril, along with mineral salts, medicinal plants, and essential oils in religious ritual to brew Potions of Cold Resistance which possess the side effect of turning skin and hair blue which will become permanent after continued use (1d10 + Constitution Bonus of Doses).

Lair and Lair Actions

Blue Orcs dwell in caves or secluded ruins in the underdark.

Lair Action: Surprise. In dim light and darkness, the dark blue pigment of a Blue Orc's skin and hair give Blue Orcs Advantage on Stealth Skill Checks to Hide in the caves and tunnels of the underdark, granting them the ability to gain Surprise on their initial Attack if an approaches within 30 feet of a hidden Blue Orc. This ability ends when the Orc attacks, moves, enters an area of torchlight or bright light, or when the orc is otherwise discovered.
