Radiant Ice. Upon hitting a target with a melee or ranged weapon attack, the ground beneath them freezes with slick ice that dances with the colours of the aurora. The ground beneath and within a 5 foot radius of the target struck becomes difficult terrain.
Additionally any creature entering or leaving the radiant ice will take 1d4 Cold Damage, and if a creature takes radiant damage while stood upon radiant ice they must make a constitution saving throw (DC 14) or become blinded until the end of their next turn.
Radiant Ice disappears after a minute, or if the Auroras Hunter is killed.
Cold Composure. Instead of moving the Auroras Hunter can instead expand a spot of radiant ice within 120 ft outward by up to 20 ft.
If there is no radiant ice within 120 ft, the Auroras Hunter can instead form a 20 ft radius of it around themselves.
Auroras Step (Recharge 5-6). The Auroras Hunter can teleport 120 ft so long as they are stood upon radiant ice and the location they teleport to is also covered in radiant ice instead of moving.
Innate Spellcasting. The Auroras Hunter innate spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 13). The Auroras Hunter can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components.
At Will: Hunters Mark, Sacred Flame, Ray of Frost, Speak with Animals
1/day each: Pass without Trace, Freedom of Movement
Multiattack. The Auroras Hunter makes three melee attacks or two ranged attacks.
Battle Axe Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 15 (1d8 + 7 +(1d4+1 Radiant Damage)) Slashing damage or 17 (1d10+7 +(1d4+1 Radiant Damage)) Slashing damge if used with two hands to make a melee attack.
Longbow. RangedWeapon Attack: +7 to hit, range 150/600 ft., 1 target. Hit: 14 (1d8 + 6 +(1d4+1 Cold Damage)) piercing damage.
Description
Auroras Hunters
By night in the north, the sky will alight with beautiful colours of blue, purple and greens. However many see this as an omen, a calling of the hunters arrival to track their prey in a night of splendid hunting.
Chosen Hunters
The origins surrounding the hunters is muddled. Some think them to be the souls of hunters that have gained favour with an ancient god, and allowed life in death to hunt again. Others think them to be servants of a fey lord or lady sent upon the world to bring them back trophies and souls. What is certain is that they rarely appear for long enough to be studied, and are even less often slain.
Marked for Death
What is certain about their arrival is this: each hunter marks a target the night before to be tracked down and hunted come their arrival. Those that have been marked have a strong feeling of impending doom, one that grows stronger the closer to the night of the hunt it gets. Once the night comes, the hunter arrives a distance away, far enough to require them to track their prey, but close enough to walk. And then the hunt begins.
Honour in Slaughter
The hunters have little in the way of remorse of rules, but the little bit of code they do have is one the stick to. Never has a hunter marked someone who could not fight back (even if they wouldn't put up much of a fight) and rarely do they mark something innocent. Instead they prefer victims who have defiled hunting grounds, disrespected animals like wolves and bears and those who waste the majority of a kill. However they have been said to hunt respected beasts like dragons before, and is unknown if they have ever succeeded. Those that can kill a hunter of Aurora are rewarded with the respect of them all, and said to never have to worry about being marked. While those that evade the hunters are considered evasive and either never hunter, or will beset by even more the next time a night comes.
Appearance
Dressed in dark armour that seems to dance with a constant reflection of the auroras lights, their bodies beneath are made of the very dancing lights of the sky. Their eyes are a bright piercing purple, and their armour is adorned with trophies of past hunts. Helmets affixed with antlers, cloaks made of pelts, skulls of Lindwurms and even humans are attached to parts of the armour. They wield bows and axes that run with the same energy as their bodies, and a constant radius of cold emanates from them. Hunters almost always work alone, but when a target is considered difficult they may work in pairs or call upon both winter and regular wolves to assist.
