The dragon can take 1 before or after their rider's turn. Like a player character, they may move, take action, and then move again as their movement speed allows. They may also take 3 legendary actions. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time, and only at the end of another creature's turn. The dragon regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn. The bond between dragon and rider is strong, but it is not impenetrable, particularly in the early stages. A dragon remains their own being, just as headstrong or focused on their own goals as they always have been.
Legendary Resistance (4/Day, or 5/Day in Lair). If the dragon fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.
Multiattack. The dragon can use its Frightful Presence. It then makes three attacks, one with with its bite and two with its claws.
Bite. Melee Attack Roll: +15, reach 15 ft. Hit: 19 (2d10 + 8) Piercing
Claw. Melee Attack Roll: +15, reach 15 ft. Hit: 15 (2d6 + 8) Slashing
Tail. Melee Attack Roll: +15, reach 20 ft. Hit: 17 (2d8 + 8) Bludgeoning
Moonbeam Breath. Constitution Saving Throw: DC 24, each creature in a 90-foot Cone. A silvery beam of pale light streams from the song dragons mouth. Any create who fails the saving through takes 10d10 radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one.
A shapechanger makes its saving throw with disadvantage. If it fails, it also instantly reverts to its original form and can’t assume a different form until the end of combat or after 1 hour.
Spellcasting. The dragon casts one of the following spells, requiring no Material components and using Charisma as the spellcasting ability (spell save DC 23, +15 to hit with spell attacks):
At Will: Detect Magic, Shapechange (Gray Wolf or Humanoid form only, [spells] Water Breathing, [spells] Calm Emotions], [spells] Heroism, no Temporary Hit Points gained from the spell, and no Concentration or Temporary Hit Points required to maintain the spell)
1/Day Each: [spells] Tidal Wave, [spells] Water Walk,
Legendary Action Uses: 3 (4 in Home Terrain - Water). Immediately after another creature’s turn, the dragon can expend a use to take one of the following actions. The dragon regains all expended uses at the start of each of its turns.
Detect. The dragon makes a wisdom (Perception Check).
Innate Spellcaster. The dragon casts one of the spells that she can perform at will.
Wing Buffet. Costs 2 Actions. The dragon beats its wings. Each Creature within 15 feet of the dragon must succeed on a DC 18 Dexterity Saving throw or take 13 (2d6+6) bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone. The dragon can then fly up to half its flying speeed.
Description
Song dragons, also called weredragons, are among the most elusive and enigmatic of dragonkind, their rarity matched only by their grace. With iridescent scales that shimmer like the surface of the seas and a slender form, they are creatures of striking beauty. Yet, most would never recognize them, for they live primarily in the guise of human women.
Rare as they are, to encounter a song dragon is to glimpse the boundary between divine mystery and mortal life—a fleeting moment of beauty and song that lingers in the soul long after.
Amalthea Selunira is an ancient song dragon who has called the Amalthean Strait her home for as long as recroded history. As an ancient song dragon, the understanding Amalthea has of the world is unparalleled. Amalthea, like other song dragons, was born in the realm of the goddess Selune. She spent her youth harmonizing with her sisters across the sea there. Their song was meant to weave a magical web of protection across Selune's realm. When a group of shadow cultists broke into Selune's realm and attempted to murder the goddess, Amalthea was blamed for letting the cultists through. She was banished to the middle realm to sing above its waters. Legends say that the pain and anger of her songs at the beginning of her banishment were what brough the sirens to this realm.
Amalthea grew to love the humanoids she watched grow, change, learn, and love. She recalls a time when the South Cove Military Academy was merely a peaceful monastery. When the war started, she was witness to the bodies given their burial at sea at the Academy. Hundreds of young people every year dying. And for what? It all seems so senseless.
