Traits

Keeper of the Eternal Library:

Spellcasting. Asteria's spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 27, +18 to hit with spell attacks). Asteria requires no material components when casting spells.

At will: bless, counterspell, greater restoration, heal, lesser restoration, scrying, teleport

3/day each: foresight, globe of invulnerability, holy aura, mass cure wounds, plane shift

1/day each: gate, mass heal, true resurrection, wish

Asteria's magic manifests as celestial starlight, living memories, and the protective will of the Library itself. Wherever she walks, damaged memories mend, broken stories reconnect, and the lost find their way home.

Eternal Bond

Eternal Bond. While Nocthyr Veyl and Asteria, Keeper of the Eternal Library, are on the same plane of existence, both creatures gain the following benefits:

• Each gains a +2 bonus to AC.
• Each has advantage on all saving throws.
• Neither creature can be surprised.
• If either creature regains hit points, the other regains hit points equal to half the amount restored.
• If either creature would be reduced to 0 hit points while the other is conscious and within 120 feet, the other may use its reaction to cause that creature to drop to 1 hit point instead.
• Each creature gains 1 additional legendary action each round while both are conscious.

Actions

Melee Spell Attack: +18 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 34 (4d10 + 12) radiant damage plus 22 (4d8) force damage.

The target must succeed on a DC 27 Wisdom saving throw or have disadvantage on attack rolls until the start of Asteria's next turn.

Asteria manifests a pen of living starlight capable of rewriting fate itself.

Action Name:

Celestial Archive

Ranged Spell Attack: +18 to hit, range 180 ft., one target. Hit: 49 (9d10) radiant damage.

The target must succeed on a DC 27 Charisma saving throw or be blinded until the end of its next turn.

Fragments of forgotten stories and celestial memories erupt from the target's mind.

Action Name:

Restore the Page (Recharge 5-6)

Asteria restores fractured reality.

Up to three creatures of her choice within 120 feet regain 80 hit points and may immediately end one condition affecting them.

Enemies within 30 feet of the chosen creatures take 40 radiant damage.

Destroyed nonmagical objects within the area are restored to their original condition.

Action Name:

Judgment of Forgotten Stars (Recharge 6)

Asteria calls upon the full radiance of the Eternal Library.

Each hostile creature of her choice within 60 feet must make a DC 27 Constitution saving throw.

On a failed save, a creature takes 72 (16d8) radiant damage and is blinded for 1 minute.

On a successful save, the creature takes half damage and is not blinded.

A blinded creature may repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.

Bonus Actions

Bonus Action Name:

Guardian of Lost Stories

Asteria chooses up to three creatures she can see within 120 feet.

Each chosen creature regains 20 hit points and may immediately end one of the following conditions affecting it: blinded, charmed, frightened, paralyzed, poisoned, or stunned.

Hostile creatures cannot benefit from this ability.

Asteria can use this bonus action three times per day.

Reactions

Reaction Name:

Preserve the Story

When a creature Asteria can see within 120 feet would be reduced to 0 hit points, Asteria intervenes before that fate can be recorded.

The creature instead drops to 1 hit point, immediately regains 50 hit points, and may end one condition affecting it.

After using this reaction, Asteria cannot use Preserve the Story again until the start of her next turn.

Legendary Actions

Asteria can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. Asteria regains spent legendary actions at the start of her turn.

Move. Asteria flies up to half her flying speed without provoking opportunity attacks.

Starlight Quill. Asteria makes one Starlight Quill attack.

Restore Memory (Costs 2 Actions). Asteria chooses one creature she can see within 120 feet. The target regains 40 hit points and may immediately end one condition affecting it.

Celestial Ward (Costs 2 Actions). Asteria grants one creature she can see within 120 feet resistance to all damage until the start of Asteria's next turn.

Celestial Burst (Costs 3 Actions). Asteria releases a wave of radiant energy. Each hostile creature within 30 feet must make a DC 27 Constitution saving throw, taking 36 (8d8) radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Guardian's Intervention (Costs 3 Actions). Asteria chooses one friendly creature within 120 feet. Until the start of Asteria's next turn, the first time that creature would be reduced to 0 hit points, it instead drops to 1 hit point.

Mythic Actions

The Heart of the Library Awakens (Mythic Trait). When Asteria is reduced to 0 hit points, she does not die. Instead, she regains 220 hit points, all conditions affecting her end, and the full radiance of the Library of Eternity manifests around her.

For the remainder of the encounter, friendly creatures of Asteria's choice regain 20 hit points at the start of their turns.

Asteria gains access to her Mythic Actions.

Award a second experience value if the party defeats Asteria after her mythic transformation.

Description

Asteria, Keeper of the Eternal Library, stands as the guardian, caretaker, and heart of the Library of Eternity. While Nocthyr Veyl preserves the memories of forgotten realities, Asteria safeguards the stories, souls, and histories entrusted to the Chronicle's care. Together they maintain the balance between remembrance and oblivion, ensuring that no life, sacrifice, or dream is ever truly lost.

Ancient beyond mortal comprehension, Asteria appears as a celestial woman draped in flowing starlight and living constellations. Her presence radiates warmth, comfort, and impossible serenity. Threads of silver light drift through her hair like rivers of stars, while galaxies shimmer within her eyes. Wherever she walks, fractured memories mend, lost souls find peace, and wounds both physical and spiritual begin to heal.

Unlike her husband Nocthyr, whose role is to observe and record, Asteria actively nurtures and protects. She serves as the keeper of the Library's endless archives, preserving not only knowledge but the emotional truths behind every story. To stand before her is to feel every cherished memory, every act of kindness, and every forgotten hope reflected back upon oneself.

Though gentle and compassionate, Asteria is far from helpless. Those who seek to destroy history, erase existence, or corrupt the Library's archives discover that her kindness conceals immense cosmic power. Entire realities have been shielded by her will, and countless souls owe their continued existence to her protection.

Within the Library of Eternity, Asteria is revered as the Eternal Keeper, the Guardian of Lost Stories, and the Light Between Pages. She is not a goddess, nor does she seek worship. Instead, she devotes herself to ensuring that every story has the chance to reach its proper ending, and that no memory worthy of remembrance is ever allowed to fade into darkness.

Many who encounter Asteria describe her presence as standing before the embodiment of hope itself—a timeless guardian whose compassion spans worlds, ages, and forgotten timelines. Where Nocthyr remembers the past, Asteria preserves the future, together forming the eternal balance upon which the Library of Eternity rests.

Lair and Lair Actions

The Library of Eternity exists beyond the boundaries of reality. Endless shelves filled with forgotten histories stretch beneath a sky of drifting constellations and rivers of living starlight. Every story ever told, every memory worth preserving, and every soul entrusted to the Chronicle is safeguarded within its infinite halls. A gentle warmth permeates the Library, though those who seek to destroy its knowledge quickly discover its defenses are anything but gentle.

Lair Actions

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), Asteria takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; Asteria cannot use the same effect two rounds in a row:

• Restore a Forgotten Chapter. Up to three creatures of Asteria's choice within 120 feet regain 30 hit points and may immediately end one condition affecting them.

• The Library Endures. Asteria chooses up to three creatures she can see within 120 feet. Until initiative count 20 of the next round, those creatures gain resistance to all damage.

• Celestial Illumination. Brilliant starlight fills a 30-foot radius centered on a point Asteria can see within 120 feet. Hostile creatures in the area must succeed on a DC 27 Constitution saving throw or be blinded until initiative count 20 of the next round.

• Preserve the Story. One creature Asteria can see within 120 feet that has been reduced to 0 hit points since the last round immediately rises with 50 hit points and may stand without using movement.

Regional Effects

The region containing the Library of Eternity is transformed by Asteria's presence, creating one or more of the following effects:

• Lost memories occasionally return to those who enter the region.

• Friendly creatures complete a long rest with all exhaustion removed.

• Written records, books, journals, and inscriptions never naturally deteriorate.

• Travelers often dream of loved ones, cherished memories, or events long forgotten.

• Creatures that spend at least 24 hours within the region have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, frightened, or possessed.

• Small motes of starlight drift through the air at night, illuminating paths and guiding lost travelers to safety.

If Asteria dies, these regional effects fade over the course of 1d10 days, though some restored memories and healed wounds may remain permanently.
