Traits

Loud Presence: The avatar's stomach can be heard from a mile away with no issues and cannot benefit from stealth. The air vibration is so great, creatures with the Deafened condition can feel its presence

Innate Spellcasting. The avatar's innate spellcasting ability is Constitution (spell save DC 17). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

3/day: haste

1/day: enlarge/reduce(see reactions)

Actions

Multiattack. The adipose avatar either attacks twice with the great maul or bites once.

Great Maul. Melee Weapon Attack: +16 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 22 (4d6 + 8) bludgeoning damage and the target must succeed on a strength check (DC 19) or falls prone.

Critical Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +16 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 21 (3d8 + 8) piercing damage. If the avatar scores a critical hit on a roll of 19 and 20.

If the target is a Large or smaller creature, it must succeed on a DC 19 Dexterity saving throw or be swallowed by the adipose avatar. A swallowed creature is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the avatar, and it takes 21 (6d6) acid damage at the start of each of the avatar's turns.

If the avatar takes 30 damage or more on a single turn from a creature inside it, the adipose avatar must succeed on a DC 21 Constitution saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate all swallowed creatures, which fall prone in a space within 10 feet of the avatar. If the creature inside uses a slashing or piercing weapon, they instead cut themselves out from its stomach, which reseals upon escape, and the creature does not fall prone. If the avatar dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the corpse by using 20 feet of movement, exiting prone.

The avatar can hold 2 large, 4 medium, or 8 small creatures in its stomach, or twice as many creatures under the effect of enlarge. If there are more than the normal capacity of creatures in its stomach when it reduces back to its normal size, the avatar's speed is reduced by half and cannot make another bite attack until creatures within either escape or die.

Reactions

Explosive girth. Once reaching half of its full HP, the avatar casts enlarge on itself as a survival instinct and does not require concentration. It never willingly ends this effect.

Description

"We heard the damn thing long before we ever saw it. We could hear its stomach rumbling from a mile away. Then it caught up to us. It moved so fast for something so big. It got Caleb first…swallowed him whole, then it came after the rest of us. It wasn’t natural."

Hunger does terrible things to body and mind. Insatiable hunger does worse. The adipose avatar is someone who has succumbed to the horrible feeling of starvation until it has driven them mad. But this surrender to famine is not without benefits; it loses past memories of its life and becomes an unholy abomination driven by a limitless appetite, consumed by a never-ending need to eat. As they descend into lunacy and obsess with satisfying their hunger, an adipose avatar takes on powers they likely never knew they could have possessed, creating a beast beyond the wildest imaginations of most beings. They become massive behemoths covered in rolls of fat, which conceal the large amounts of muscle built from hunting food.

An adipose avatar must consume half its body weight daily to survive, gorging and digesting over one ton of any materials it get its hands on such as garbage or soil. While an adipose avatar does not change much in height through its progression, its ravenous desire to feed caused its undulating rolls to balloon and to many times its bulk. An adipose avatar's hunger can only be ended by death. No magic or healing can stop its influence, which hangs over these beings and haunts them for eternity.
