Description

Appearance & Behavior
This creature features a heavy, spiraled shell that glows with an iridescent, blue-and-purple metallic sheen, refracting light like a polished gemstone. Its body is a thick, rubbery golden-brown. Most striking are its sensory appendages: instead of standard antennae, its head splits into distinct, bright orange stalks ending in vibrant red, spike-covered nodules resembling medieval flails.
While full-grown flail snails are sluggish land-dwellers, this baby companion has a unique elemental connection to water. On land, it moves with a wet, squelching glide, constantly waving its spiky tentacles to sense its surroundings. It possesses an appetite for minerals, eagerly crunching on raw stones, gems, or metallic ore to nourish and grow its beautiful, crystalline shell.
Combat & Companion Behavior
Though small, the baby flail snail is a solid, armored tank of a pet. When threatened, it raises its front body high, waving its spiked nodules menacingly before lashing out with heavy, clubbing strikes. It is intensely loyal to its caretaker, using its body to block pathways or shield allies. If a foe manages to crack its formidable shell or sever its tentacles, it retreats entirely inside its iridescent dome, unleashing a single blinding flash from its crystal layers to deter attackers while it recovers.
Aquatic Nature
As an elemental creature, water fuels and energizes the snail. When submerged, its crystalline shell shimmers with an internal, bioluminescent pulse. It glides effortlessly through liquid environments like a miniature, armored jet, leaving behind a glowing, aquatic wake of sparkling bubbles. It can carry small objects through the water at surprisingly high speeds, hinting at its potential to one day grow into a magnificent ocean-faring mount.
