Description
For countless generations, the azers and efreeti have shared a rivalry as old as the City of Brass itself. Legends disagree on whether the city was built through cooperation between the two peoples or forged solely by azer hands before being claimed by the efreeti. Whatever the truth, disputes over craftsmanship, honor, and ownership have fueled centuries of distrust, with each race claiming to be the greatest smiths in all the planes. In recent years, however, a fragile partnership has begun to emerge. Official recognition of the azers' contributions to the City's history, coupled with renewed diplomatic efforts, has encouraged many master smiths to lend their talents to the City's defense. Though the old rivalries remain, more azers now choose to stand beside the efreeti than against them, believing that protecting the greatest forge in the multiverse is a cause worthy of their craft.
Thus, the Azer Forgewrights were created. Azer Forgemasters serve as the military's armorers, engineers, and battlefield artisans. They march with the legions to maintain enchanted equipment, reinforce defensive lines, and restore damaged constructs and fortifications even as battle rages around them. Their portable forgefire cannons provide devastating ranged support, while their unmatched knowledge of metallurgy allows them to strengthen armor, temper weapons, and repair allies in moments that would take ordinary smiths hours. Though fully capable warriors in their own right, Forgemasters view every battle as an opportunity to demonstrate that victory belongs not only to the strongest blade, but to the hands that forged it.
