Spider Climb. Arachne can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.
Web Walker. Arachne ignores movement restrictions caused by webs and can move normally through her own webs.
Web Predator. When Arachne hits a creature that is Restrained with a melee attack, the attack deals an additional 1d8 piercing damage.
Vanish: After disengaging, Arachne can vanish into her web.
Tapestry of the Widow. While at least half of Arachne’s tapestry remains intact, she can use Weaver’s Retreat and Vanish. When the tapestry is reduced below half of its original state, Arachne loses access to both abilities, and gains +2 to her AC.
Multiattack. Arachne makes 2 Melee Attacks, or 1 Melee Attack and 1 Ranged Attack.
Needle Strike. Melee Attack. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., 1 target. Hit: 13 (2d8 + 4) [piercing] damage. If the target is Restrained, the attack deals an additional 4 (1d8) [piercing] damage.
Bite. Melee Attack. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 9 (1d10 + 4) [piercing] damage plus 7 (2d6) [necrotic] damage. If the target is Restrained, the attack deals an additional 3 (1d6) [necrotic] damage.
Web Shot (Recharge 5–6). Ranged Attack. Ranged Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, range 30/60 ft., one target. Hit: The target is Restrained by magical webbing. A Restrained creature can use its action to make a DC 14 Strength check, escaping the webbing on a success.
Flurry of Needles. Immediately after Arachne hits a creature with a Melee Attack, she may forgo her second attack to unleash a rapid flurry of strikes. The target must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or take 11 (2d6 + 4) [piercing damage], or half as much on a successful save. A Restrained creature has disadvantage on this saving throw.
Weaver’s Retreat (Recharge 4–6). While at least half of Arachne’s tapestry remains intact, she takes the Disengage action and moves up to half her speed without provoking opportunity attacks. She regains the ability to use it when she rolls a 4–6 at the start of her turn.
Description
Arachne is a large spider-like humanoid creature with eight sharp, bladed legs extending from her twisted body. Her upper half retains a humanoid shape, with long tangled hair and multiple spider-like features. Her body is covered in dark chitin and silk-like growths, with glowing eyes and sharp fangs. Her many limbs allow her to move quickly across walls and ceilings.
Lair and Lair Actions
Arachne’s lair is an ancient warrior’s tomb overtaken by thick metallic webs, silk, and dark magic. The walls and tunnels are covered in enchanted threads that display scenes when viewed from the correct angle. Her massive tapestry hangs deep within the tomb, radiating the dark magic that fuels her connection to the lair.
Lair Actions
On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), Arachne takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; Arachne can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row.
• Grasping Webs. Webs erupt from the walls and floor. Creatures of Arachne’s choice within 30 feet must succeed on a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw or become Restrained until the start of the next round.
• Weaver’s Domain. Arachne moves up to 20 feet through her webs without provoking opportunity attacks.
• Tangled Memories. The tapestry displays disturbing visions from Arachne’s past. Creatures of Arachne’s choice within 60 feet must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or have disadvantage on their next attack roll before the end of their next turn.
