Carapace. The Aranya has an armored carapace that is adapted specifically to defend against slashing damage.

Many Legged. Aranya are sure-footed and do not decrease their speed over non-magical difficult terrain.

Actions

Multiattack. The Aranya makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (1d10 + 5) piercing damage,  and the target must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw, taking 14 (3d8) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. If the poison damage reduces the target to 0 hit points, the target is stable but poisoned for 1 hour, even after regaining hit points, and is paralyzed while poisoned in this way.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (2d10 + 5) slashing damage.

Description

Aranya are huge spiders that range the Miwakhan Oblaya (Sword Grass), and serve as transports for the Zhi'ii tribes. They can be trained as mounts, and move swiftly across difficult terrain.
