Reborn by Caffeine. The Bean Mutant is affected by a magical form of Caffeine, reducing it's exhaustion levels while affected. This also increases its regeneration ability; it regains 10 hitpoints at the start of each creature's turn - unless it takes a damage type other than Bludgeoning, Piercing or Slashing.
Variant: Spellcaster. A Bean Caster is a 1st-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Int (spell save DC 12, +4 to hit with spell attacks). The Bean Caster has following Wizard spells prepared:
At-will: Magic Missile.
Due to their jittery nature, a Bean Caster is highly likely to cause Wild Magic to surge on every casting. Roll on the Wild Magic table every time they cast Magic Missile.
Multiattack. The Bean Mutant makes 3 fist attacks.
Fist. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 1) bludgeoning damage.
Dash (Bonus Action). The Bean Mutant moves up to it's full speed as a bonus action.
Description
A Bean Mutant is a dead humanoid who fell upon or was taken to the seeping sap of a cursed tree; one that leaked a Magical Source of Caffeine. Obviously, Caffeine should reduce your exhaustion levels, right? And if 6 levels of Exhaustion say that you die, then reducing your exhaustion would make you.. an Undead Bean Mutant - addicted to finding this crazy Bean Juice.
A Bean Mutant is permanently under a quasi-state of "Haste". If they are ever dispelled or removed from this effect, they will automatically die in 1d6 rounds; as the levels of Exhaustion immediately pile back on. If touched, their blood has a very mild caffeinated taste.
