Bulb Armor. While the blightback has half its hit points or fewer, a creature that hits it with a melee attack must succeed on a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or be blinded until the start of its next turn as acidic fluid bursts across their face.
Rooted Frame. The blightback has advantage on saving throws against being shoved, knocked prone, or moved against its will while standing on natural or plant-covered terrain.
Multiattack. The blightback makes two Slam attacks.
Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) bludgeoning damage. The target must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be
knocked prone.
Rupture Burst (Recharge 5–6). The blightback bursts several fluid sacs in a violent expulsion in a 10-foot radius. Each creature in the area must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 14 (4d6) acid damage, is pushed 5 feet away, and is knocked prone. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage and suffers no additional effects.
Description
Blightbacks serve as elite frontline defenders of Carmella’s Greenhouse, transformed through deliberate exposure to alchemical grafts and hyperadaptive mycelial strains. Each one is a walking tank that is stitched with root-channel musculature and swollen with fluid sacs bred to absorb, deflect, and explode under pressure. Their semi-translucent skin bulges and ripples as they move, revealing shifting growths and dense internal plating. Despite their grotesque mutation, blightbacks remain disciplined and vigilant, treating the greenhouse grounds as sacred and Carmella as the only authority they recognise.
