Pack Tactics. The Alpha Shadow Wolf has advantage on an attack roll against a creature if at least one of the Alpha Shadow Wolf's allies is within 5-feet of the creature and the ally isn't incapacitated.
Umbral Tether. The first time a creature is hit by the Alpha Shadow Wolf on a turn while in dim light or darkness, its speed is reduced by 10-feet until the start of the Alpha Shadow Wolf's next turn. (This effect does not stack).
Multiattack. The Alpha Shadow Wolf makes one Necrotic Bite and two Shadow Claw attacks.
Necrotic Bite. Melee Attack Roll: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d10+3) piercing damage plus 3 (1d6) necrotic damage. If the target is hit by this attack, it must make a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the creature drops whatever it is holding and becomes frightened of the Alpha Shadow Wolf for 1 minute. A frightened creature can repeat the Wisdom saving throw at the end of each of its turn, ending the effect on itself on a success.
Shadow Claw. Melee Attack Roll: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6+3) slashing damage. The creature must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or it cannot regain hit points until the start of the Alpha Shadow Wolf's next turn.
Shadow Eruption (Recharge 5-6). The Alpha Shadow Wolf unleashes a sweeping stream of pure dark necrotic cloud from its maw in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw or take 18 (4d8) necrotic damage. On success, it takes half its damage.
Shadow Step. If the Alpha Shadow Wolf is in dim light or darkness, it magically teleports up to 30-feet to an unoccupied space it can see that is also in dim light or darkness.
Menacing Glare. When the Alpha Shadow Wolf takes damage from a creature it can see while in dim light or darkness, it can use its reaction to impose disadvantage on the creature's next attacks until the start of their next turn.
The Alpha Shadow Wolf can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The Alpha Shadow Wolf regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.
Shadow Claw. The Alpha Wolf makes a Shadow Claw attack.
Pinning Pounce (Costs 2 Actions). The hound leaps up to 20-feet toward a creature it can see without provoking any opportunity attacks. The target must succeed on a DC 16 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone and restrained under the Alpha Shadow Wolf's massive paws (it must use an action to escape, Athletics DC 16). The restraint also ends if the Alpha Shadow Wolf moves away.
Blinding Dust (Costs 2 Actions). The Alpha Shadow Wolf shakes its shadow mane, releasing a cloud of pitch-black soot. Each creature within 10-feet of the hound must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or be blinded until the end of its next turn.
Description
The Alpha Shadow Wolf was once a human named Lucas Varulv, the second born son of a noble werewolf bloodline. Lucas is condemned to live forever in his cousin's shadow. With his determination to prove himself, he ventured across the Shadowfell alone in a search of the Shadowleaf that might finally prove his worth. Despite the effort he never found it. The plane's curse creeped around him as if feeding off his despair until the Shadowfell's curse took hold of his body. The Shadowfell is known to corrupt anything that lingers too long within it, permanently. The curse corrupted him, turning him into a monstrous large wolf. All of his past memories are gone, he could not recognize what was right and wrong. Now, he drags multiple unwilling creatures into the same plane of shadow to inflict his own corruption on them, creating his own pack for himself.
