Description

Hives of Ankhegs are a common problem throughout Amn, destroying crop yields in the farmlands of Meiritin and disrupting trade routes in Zeoharastria. Luckily the larger adults are a rarity, staying in the hives as queens or her mates while broodlings and the more common juveniles forage like ants. As a result, many farming communities will often have a notice board for adventurers passing through that offer some bounty for ankhegs on a per head basis. Usually about 1gp each for Broodlings and up to 5gp for an Adult. Savvy adventurers will often take carts and horses to load up the dead ankhegs they slay. Some people thoroughly enjoy the naturally salty meat beneath the chitin, while some armorers have taken to making cheap but thick heavy plated armor from the chitin. Thus ankheg hunting has become a very lucrative trade in central and eastern Amn.
