Prototype Object. The Bear Trap is a nonmagical Prototype. Although represented as a Construct for D&D Beyond functionality, it is an object, not a creature.
Hit Points. The Bear Trap has Hit Points equal to 5 + your Fighter level.
Trigger. When any creature enters the Bear Trap's space, it must make a Dexterity saving throw against your Prototype Save DC. On a failed save, the creature takes 1d8 Piercing damage and has the Restrained condition.
A creature Restrained by the Bear Trap can take an action to make a Strength (Athletics) check against your Prototype Save DC, freeing itself on a success. Destroying the Bear Trap also frees the creature. The Bear Trap can restrain only one creature at a time.
Your Prototype Save DC equals 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Intelligence modifier.
Overclock. If this Prototype was Overclocked when created, the damage dealt when triggered increases to 2d8 Piercing damage, and ability checks made to escape the Bear Trap have Disadvantage.
Description
A compact mechanical trap built from powerful springs and interlocking metal jaws. Once deployed, the Bear Trap remains stationary until triggered, destroyed, or its Prototype duration ends.
