Made Before Distance
The hound does not entirely understand conventional space.
As a bonus action, it can teleport up to 20 feet to an unoccupied space it can see.
Its movement briefly resembles its body being dismantled into fragments of starlight before assembling somewhere else.
Sense the Unfinished
The hound automatically senses the presence of the following within 60 feet, though it does not know their exact nature:
- portals and planar breaches;
- active teleportation magic;
- significant distortions in space or time;
- objects originating from the Maker’s Space or Avantmonde.
It has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks made to locate such phenomena.
Strange Geometry
The hound can stand and walk on surfaces regardless of their orientation, including walls, ceilings, floating debris, and objects that have no obvious gravitational relationship to one another.
It does not need to make ability checks to maintain its footing because of unusual gravity.
Observe. The hound studies one creature, object, or magical phenomenon it can see within 30 feet. Until the beginning of its next turn, its master gains advantage on the next Intelligence (Arcana) or Wisdom (Perception) check made to examine the same target.
Attack
Shard Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target.
Hit: 5 (1d4 + 3) piercing damage plus 2 (1d4) force damage.
A shardling serving as a familiar cannot use this attack.
Maker’s Recall — 1/Long Rest
If the hound is reduced to 0 hit points while within 60 feet of its master, it does not immediately disappear.
Instead, its body fractures into dozens of floating pieces.
At the beginning of its master’s next turn, the master may choose an unoccupied space within 5 feet of themselves.
The fragments reassemble there, and the shardling returns with 1 hit point.
Anchor Reality
When the hound or a creature within 10 feet of it would be forcibly moved, knocked prone, or teleported against its will, the shardling can use its reaction to anchor that creature.
The creature gains advantage on any saving throw made to resist the effect.
If there is no saving throw, reduce the forced movement by 10 feet.
The shardling can use this reaction a number of times equal to its master’s proficiency bonus per long rest.
Description
An Axiom Hound is an ancient creature from Avantmonde, shaped before the Architect had fully settled the laws of life and anatomy. Its body resembles a sleek, four-legged beast wrapped in pale, blade-like plating, but beneath the shell its flesh looks less biological than cosmic—dark, star-filled, and faintly luminous.
It moves with eerie precision, occasionally seeming to occupy the wrong angle or distance for a moment before reality catches up. Despite its alien appearance, an Axiom Hound is calm, observant, and fiercely loyal once bonded to a mortal.
