Amphibious. The Blackwater Maw can breathe air and water.
Unstable Regeneration. At the beginning of its turn, the Maw regains 10 hit points if it has at least 1 hit point and is touching contaminated water. Radiant damage suppresses this regeneration until the end of its next turn.
Multiattack. The Maw makes one Bite attack and one Tail attack against different targets.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 17 (2d10 + 6) piercing damage plus 1d6 necrotic damage. The target is grappled (escape DC 16). Until the grapple ends, the target is restrained, and the Maw cannot bite another target.
Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d8 + 6) bludgeoning damage. The target must succeed on a DC 16 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Blackwater Expulsion (Recharge 5–6). The Maw vomits contaminated fluid in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in the area must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw, taking 4d8 necrotic damage on a failure or half as much on a success. The affected ground becomes difficult terrain until the end of the Maw's next turn.
Death Roll. If the Maw is grappling a creature while submerged, it can use a bonus action to twist violently, dealing 3d8 bludgeoning damage to that creature.
Description
Two enormous, pale eyes set unevenly into a broad, armored skull.
It resembles a crocodile, but only in the most general sense.
Its body is enormous, nearly thirty feet long, with thick scales that have split apart to accommodate swollen plates of bone. Several irregular growths protrude along its spine, and one side of its jaw hangs considerably lower than the other.
As it opens its mouth, you see rows of crooked teeth growing behind the original ones.
As its throat expands, it releases a deep, wet bellow.
