Legendary Rarity. Bloomfang is an exceptionally rare magical canine found only in ancient moonlit groves. It is believed that only a handful of Moonpetal Hounds exist throughout Eldoria. Bloomfang is not naturally hostile and prefers to observe travelers before revealing itself.

Keen Hearing and Smell. Bloomfang has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.

Moonlit Regeneration. While standing in natural moonlight, Bloomfang regains 5 hit points at the start of its turn if it has at least 1 hit point. This trait does not function in direct sunlight.

Crystalhide. Bloomfang's crystalline growths provide resistance to radiant and psychic damage.

Fey Step. Bloomfang ignores difficult terrain caused by nonmagical plants, roots, and undergrowth.

Bond of the Moonpetal. Bloomfang can form a magical bond with one willing creature that has earned its trust. While Bloomfang and the bonded creature are within 30 feet of each other, Bloomfang always knows the direction of that creature. The bond ends if Bloomfang willingly breaks it or the bonded creature dies. This bond does not grant control over Bloomfang.

Magic Resistance. Bloomfang has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Actions

Multiattack. Bloomfang makes two Moonfang Bite attacks.

Moonfang Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) piercing damage plus 3 (1d6) radiant damage. If the target is a Large or smaller creature, it must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Crystal Howl (Recharge 5-6). Bloomfang releases a supernatural howl filled with shimmering moonlight. Each creature of Bloomfang's choice within 20 feet that can hear it must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw, taking 18 (4d8) psychic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. A creature that fails the saving throw is also frightened of Bloomfang until the end of its next turn.

Moonpetal Burst (1/Day). Bloomfang releases a storm of glowing pink petals in a 15-foot-radius sphere centered on a point it can see within 60 feet. Each hostile creature in the area must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, taking 21 (6d6) radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The petals then disappear.

Healing Bloom (1/Day). Bloomfang touches one willing creature within 5 feet, restoring 14 (4d6) hit points. This ability has no effect on constructs or undead.

Bonus Actions

Petalstep (Recharge 4-6). Bloomfang teleports up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space it can see. A swirl of glowing pink petals appears at the space it leaves and immediately fades.

Guardian's Call (1/Day). Bloomfang chooses one friendly creature within 30 feet that can hear it. The creature gains 7 (2d6) temporary hit points and advantage on its next Wisdom saving throw made within 1 minute.

Reactions

Moonpetal Shield (Recharge 5-6). When Bloomfang or a creature it can see within 10 feet takes damage from an attack, Bloomfang summons a barrier of glowing crystalline petals, reducing the damage by 10 (3d6).

Description

Bloomfang, the Moonpetal Hound, is a legendary rare creature believed to have originated in the ancient moonlit groves of Eldoria. These mystical canines are said to appear only when the boundaries between the mortal world and the Feywild grow thin.

Appearance. Bloomfang resembles an enormous black wolf with thick, flowing fur and brilliant magenta eyes. Pink crystalline growths emerge from its shoulders and tail, while glowing moonpetal flowers bloom naturally along its body. Ancient luminous markings decorate its chest and forehead.

Temperament. Bloomfang is loyal, intelligent, protective, and cautious. It rarely attacks without provocation and is particularly drawn to creatures who protect the innocent or show kindness toward animals.

Habitat. Moonpetal Hounds inhabit enchanted forests, ancient Feywild crossings, forgotten gardens, and sacred groves touched by moonlight.

Rarity. Bloomfang is considered a legendary rarity. Most scholars believe Moonpetal Hounds are extinct, and documented sightings are separated by centuries.

Behavior. Bloomfang often observes travelers from a distance before approaching. Its arrival is accompanied by drifting pink petals, an unnatural stillness in the forest, and the faint scent of night-blooming flowers.

Communication. Bloomfang understands Common, Elvish, and Sylvan but cannot speak. It communicates through body language, soft vocalizations, and brief telepathic impressions within 60 feet.

Bonding. Bloomfang cannot be tamed through intimidation or ordinary animal training. A creature must earn its trust through patience, compassion, and meaningful actions. Once bonded, Bloomfang may choose to accompany that creature as a loyal companion while retaining its independence.

Roleplaying Bloomfang. Bloomfang is curious but dignified. It may approach injured travelers, quietly observe adventurers, or intervene when someone threatens a sacred grove.

Connection to the World. Ancient legends suggest that Moonpetal Hounds once guarded sacred places dedicated to Selene, the Moonweaver. Whether Bloomfang remembers these ancient duties remains unknown.

Combat Tactics. Bloomfang uses its mobility and magical abilities to defend allies, frighten enemies, and control the battlefield. It prefers to disable threats rather than pursue fleeing opponents.
