Prolific Egg-Layer. Each Hyper-chicken develops and carries a large egg of its species inside its stomach. When laid, the egg is a Medium object with 54 (12d8) hitpoints, Immunity to Bludgeoning, Piercing, or Slashing from non-magical attacks that aren't Adamantine, and Resistance to all other Damage. The egg hatches into another hyper-chicken 1 minute after it is laid. If the egg is subjected to fire damage, it instead hatches on initiative count 20 of the next round if it has not been destroyed.
Fire Transmutation. If the Hyper-chicken takes fire damage, its Lay Egg feature is immediately recharged.
Multiattack. The Hyper-chicken makes 2 attacks with its claws. If able, it can substitute its Acid Regurgitation attack for one of the claw attacks.
Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 10 (2d6 + 3) slashing damage and the creature is grappled by the Hyper-Chicken (Escape DC 16). The Hyper-Chicken can grapple only one creature at at time, and cannot use its Claws attack while grappling.
Acid Regurgitation. The Hyper-chicken attempts to regurgitate acidic vomit into the mouth of a creature it is grappling. The creature must make a DC 16 Dexterity Saving throw, taking 28 (8d6) acid damage on a failed save, and half on a success. If the creature fails the saving throw by 5 or more, the creature instead takes 48 acid damage.
Lay Egg (Recharge 6). The hyper-chicken screams and lays an egg from its mouth. As part of this action, the hyper-chicken takes 9 (2d8) force damage and all creatures within 60 feet of the creature who can hear its scream must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom Saving Throw or be frightened by the creature for one minute. A frightened creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.
Description
The result of highly dangerous magical experimentation, the Hyper-Chicken has become a feared predator of humanoids where it has been found. Standing nearly 9 feet tall, hairless, with short, stubby legs, a thick torso, long clawed hands, and a long neck and human-like head, this aberration is known both for its fecundity, and the violent way it preys on humanoid targets.
Ultra Prolific Egg-Layers. Derived from the common chicken, the Hyper-chicken is known for its fecundity. An adult hyper-chicken is able to produce a viable egg within seconds, which it lays through its mouth, an excruciating process that is both painful to the hyper-chicken, and horrifying to observers. Many who have observed the process describe feelings of abject fear and revulsion, and many are forced to flee. Oddly, the process of creating these eggs does not depend on nutrition or food intake, but rather survival. Often when encountering a threat, or even substantial numbers of prey creatures, the hyper-chickens first instinct is to immediately lay an egg, increasing the chance of its species survival.
Resilient Eggs. Hyper-chicken eggs are notoriously hard to break prior to hatching (which can occur in less than a minute). Using fire to destroy the egg is ill-advised, and seems to speed up the hatching process. Hyper-chickens are hatched as adults, and are fully capable of producing new eggs at birth, often as its first act. Control of the species is predicated on immediate destruction of eggs using non-flammable means.
Violent Predators. The Hyper-chicken will often seek out humanoid targets to prey upon. When attacking, the Hyper-chicken will attempt to grab its prey in its claws and then regurgitate acid vomit into the preys mouth. The acid dissolves the preys innards, which then are sucked out much like a spider. This violent and gruesome manner of feeding is one of the reasons why this creature is considered a massive threat to all humanoids it encounters.
