Failsafe Frenzy. If the antipathotomaton is reduced to 30 hit points or lower, it starts emitting smoke and enters into a frenzy. The antipathotomaton gains the Legendary Actions described in the Legendary Actions section of this stat block.

Actions

Multiattack. The antipathotomaton makes two melee attacks.

Paralytic Needle. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d10 + 4) piercing damage. If the attacks hits, the target must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or be paralyzed. The creature can re-make the save at the beginning of it's turn, ending the condition.

Legendary Actions

The antipathotomaton can take 3 legendary actions after it enters the Failsafe Frenzy. Only one legendary action can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The antipathotomaton regains its spent legendary actions at the beginning of its turn.

Electric Discharge. Creatures within a 15 foot radius of the antipathotomaton must succeed on a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw or take 10 (3d6) lightning damage.

Description

This humanoid construct hums with electrical energy, its head a large dome that sloshes with a sickeningly green liquid, its entire body coated in plate metal that has a greenish tint to it. Its arms are capped with cylindrical stumps that, when pushed down, expose a needle that injects the paralytic compound contained in the constructs head. Called the antipathotomaton, it was designed to be sent into plague-stricken regions and administer medicine or enforce quarantines without risking the lives of unafflicted individuals. It has long since been abandoned, and time has corrupted it. It now thinks any living thing it encounters is diseased and attempts to enforce a quarantine. A prototype for magical constructs, it is powered using a rudimentary electrum crystal charged with electrical energy. As the antipathotomaton takes damage, this crystal becomes unstable and emits bursts of electrical energy.
