Arcane Infused. The Arcane Raven is imbued with magical energy which makes its body very volatile. When it is killed, it explodes outward, forcing all creatures within 5 ft. to make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw. Creatures take 1d6 force damage on a failed save or half as much on a successful one. If the Arcane Raven is killed by magical means, the effect is amplified. The range increment and damage dice is multiplied by the level of the spell (minimum 5 ft. and 1d6).
Illusory Shift. The Arcane Raven gives off a feint shimmer of magical energy, disrupting vision of it and causing attack rolls against it to have disadvantage. If it is hit by an attack, this trait is disrupted until the end of its next turn.
Beak Strike. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d4 + 2) piercing damage and 4 (1d6) force damage.
Description
The first arcane raven was a wizard’s familiar that became imbued with magical energy through many attempts to give it new abilities. The wizard wanted a familiar that could help with their studies and in protecting the tower. When the first one died, the wizard made several more as replacements. These replacements began to breed and their offspring, not bound by the magical bonds of being a familiar, travelled into the world, reproducing at an alarming rate. It is extremely rare to find a lone arcane raven as they never travel without the entire flock and they are very protective of each of the flock’s members. There are stories of their power as a combined flock, telling that if enough of them are killed simultaneously, they possess enough combined power to level a forest.

Posted May 11, 2020This would make a good familiar for an illusionist wizard.
