Description
Spawned from the region between the Elemental Plane of Water, and the Elemental Plane of Air, a Animikii or "Storm Bird" can enter the material plane when a magical storm, or extremely heavy storm is present. It travels with the storm, vanishing back to the Elemental Plane when the storm subsides. It has the appearance of a large owl created of fog and lightning with gemstone eyes and talons. The more valuable the gem, the older and more powerful the Animikii. If slain, the gemstones remain in the Material Plane. Some Animikii become pets of powerful Storm Giants, aiding them when called upon.
Ancient Animikii are feared throughout the Elemental Planes are apex predators and the makers of great storms. The only recorded incident of an Ancient Animikii entering the Material Plane was during Tearfall. It is said that this lone Ancient Animikii is trapped somewhere on the Material Plane, but no one knows where.
