Disintegrating Touch. Anything the Blackball of Entropy touches is immediately disintegrated. It does not target anyone specifically, but anyone that gets in the way of the black ball must make a DC 12 Dexterity Saving throw or the target takes 10d6 + 40 force damage. The target is disintegrated if this damage leaves it with 0 hit points.
A disintegrated creature and everything it is wearing and carrying, except magic items, are reduced to a pile of fine gray dust. The creature can be restored to life only by means of a true resurrection or a wish spell.
This spell automatically disintegrates a Large or smaller non-magical object or a creation of magical force. If the target is a Huge or larger object or creation of force, this spell disintegrates a 10-foot- cube portion of it. A magic item is unaffected by this spell.
Straight Line Movement. Once the blackball starts moving, it must move in a straight line until it stops. It cannot make a curving arc. A blackball can move 20 feet forward then 30 feet 90° to the right or left, or 180° back the way it came, for example. They cannot move diagonally.
Description
The blackball of entropy is a mysterious and extraordinarily dangerous thing. No one knows precisely how this thing came into being, if it's even alive, or if there are more than one of them. Sometimes called the "deadly sphere," it is simply a featureless black globe, about 5 feet in diameter. It levitates about slowly and silently, in apparently random patterns, disintegrating everything in its path. There are also reports that the blackball will hover in place in the same spot for years and years before moving again. No one knows what might bring it to a stop or motivate it to move again.
The blackball has no recognizable mind or intelligence.
Sages have presented several hypotheses concerning blackballs of entropy, including: 1) Only one exists; 2) It is all that remains of a fiend or evil deity defeated by the gods in the very earliest days of the Realms; 3)It was created to be an instrument of destruction by the Elder Evils; 4) It is the herald of one or more Elder Evils, including the one known as Entropy.
No mortal has ever seen more than one blackball at once.
