Shapechanger. The mimic can use its action to polymorph into an object or back into its true, amorphous form. Its statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.

False Appearance (Object Form Only). While the mimic remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from an ordinary object.

Grappler. The mimic has advantage on attack rolls against any creature grappled by it.

Spiked protuberances. The mimic covers itself in spikey points.  Any creature grappled by the mimic takes 2d6 piercing damage at the start of the creatures turn.

Actions

Multi attack. The mimic makes two attacks, one with its pseuopod and one with its bite.

Swallow. If the mimic hit's with a bite attack it then can make a special bite attack as a bonus action to attempt to swallow the target.  The mimic can swallow only one medium creature at a time. While swallowed a creature is both restrained and blinded suffering 3d6 acid damage at the start of the creatures turn. If the mimic takes more than 20 damage in a turn it must succeed a dc12 con or expunged its swallowed creature to an unoccupied square within 5 feet.

Description

A mimic who lives more than a century grows larger and deadlier.  The mimic has learned to use its shape changing abilities to make its body a defensive weapon. Additionally,  its larger size it capable of devouring adventurers whole. An Ancient Mimic's favored disguise is statues of forgotten kings or double doorways to vaults containing riches. Only the smartest of mimics dare imitate traps such as falling boulders, eating alive a curious rogue who vanished after the trap resets.
