Devil's Sight. Magical darkness doesn't impede the devil's darkvision.
Magic Resistance. The devil has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Telepathic Bond. The fiend ignores the range restriction on its telepathy when communicating with a creature it has charmed. The two don't even need to be on the same plane of existence.
Shapechanger. The fiend can use its action to polymorph into a Small or Medium humanoid, or back into its true form. Without wings, the fiend loses its flying speed. Other than its size and speed, its statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.
Multiattack. In original form the devil makes three melee attacks: two with its claw and one with its tail. It can use Hurl Flame in place of any melee attack or it can use Seven-tailed whip in place of any two melee attacks. In humanoid form devil makes one attack with Seven-tailed whip or use Hurl Flame twice.
Claw (Fiend Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (1d10 + 6) slashing damage. If this attack hits the wounded target (see below), it deals an additional 7 (1d10) slashing damage.
Tail (Fiend Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (1d8 + 6) piercing damage. If the target is a creature other than an undead or a construct, it must succeed on a DC 17 Constitution saving throw or lose 10 (3d6) hit points at the start of each of its turns due to an infernal wound. Each time the devil hits the wounded target with this attack, the damage dealt by the wound increases by 10 (3d6). Any creature can take an action to stanch the wound with a successful DC 12 Wisdom (Medicine) check. The wound also closes if the target receives magical healing.
Seven-tailed Whip. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 23 (7d4 + 6) slashing damage. In addition, target must succed on a DC 17 Strength saving throw or loose ability to use its reactions until the start of devil's next turn.
Hurl Flame. Ranged Spell Attack: +7 to hit, range 150 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (4d6) fire damage. If the target is a flammable object that isn't being worn or carried, it also catches fire.
Charm. One humanoid the fiend can see within 30 feet of it must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or be magically charmed for 1 day. The charmed target obeys the fiend's verbal or telepathic commands. If the target suffers any harm or receives a suicidal command, it can repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on a success. If the target successfully saves against the effect, or if the effect on it ends, the target is immune to this fiend's Charm for the next 24 hours.
The fiend can have only one target charmed at a time. If it charms another, the effect on the previous target ends.
Draining Kiss. The fiend kisses a creature charmed by it or a willing creature. The target must make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw against this magic, taking 32 (5d10 + 5) psychic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The target's hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the damage taken. This reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. The target dies if this effect reduces its hit point maximum to 0.
Etherealness. The fiend magically enters the Ethereal Plane from the Material Plane, or vice versa.
Share Pain. When attack hits the devil, it takes only half damage and the attacking creature takes the half damage from own attack.
Description
Artwork by Mirco Cabbia (Sciamano240). Not used for commercial purposes.
Baraqiel looks like a regular succubus by most accounts. She has an alien violet colour which does not prevent her from having an incredible beauty. Bat-like wings also are present but seems to be a little bigger than usual. The most distinguishing feature is her huge horns, which are enourmous in comparison to ordinary succubus. When Baraqiel turns into humanoid creature, she appears as a beatiful woman beyound imagination.
Deals with the Devil. Baraqiel is a powerfull succubus, who delved into devil hierarchy in the long past and now obtain the position as inportant as Horned Devil. She has an endless craving for gaining more and more influence and might.
Baraqiel strikes deals with mortals to harvest more souls into her domain. She propose luck and power in love affairs in exchange for gaining more clients, followers and mortal souls. As a devil she has to keep her promises but all of their kind knows how to suggest "the best offer" for mortals, which are thirsty for their whishes.
Baraqiel usually executes some romantic fantasies and other distorted urges or creates the easiest roote for their implementation. It may take form of the following diabolic gifts:
- Desired Outcome. Baraqiel lurk into the dreams of mortals as using Dream spell and fulfill their aspiration to object of desire. What is happening in this drean is difficult to distinguish from reality.
- Power from Pain. Baraqiel grants the beseecher ability to gain power from pain. Once in each combat round when creature takes any damage, it obtain a d4 untill the end of the battle round. It could be added to any dice roll performed by this creature.
- Fabulous Charm. Baraqiel gifts the fabulous charm to certain mortals. Such gifted creature has an advntage on any Persuasion and Deception checks that involves the object of iits desire.
The conditions and price for those gifts may vary as Baraqiel has an individul approach for each beseecher. She may draw in new followers promising minor charges for small deals but sooner or later stakes will be risen and they fall into her scheme. The duration for such diabolic gifts are different but if it exceeds pair of days the cost of the deal may be shocking as the surrrending the soul of a firstborn, however Baraqiel usually request the life force of mortals for common askings to maintain her existence at present plan .
If the subject signed contract tries to avoid the cost, Baraqiel can send nightmares to such deviationists as using Dream spell in order to persuade to perform the deal. In case of stubborn subjects, she could break down menntally such entities or siphon all their life force.
Devil-worshipper Cults of Pleasure. In addition, Baraqiel often tries to create a cult, which worships devils and specifically Baraqiel called Lady of Pleasant Pain. Such cult provide a constant source of life force to maintain her existence here and a bunch of contractors. She sometimes dwells among cult worshippers as one of cult leaders transformed into a beatiful woman.
Basically cult engages nobles and common people with distorted wishes. They create an amorphous organization, which easily hides the object of their worship and their business. Baraqiel does not often interfere in such business directky but tries to guide cult in secret according to her plans of gaining power.
In such cult adventurers could find Cultists and Nobles as general members and moreover Acolytes and Cult Fanatics as cult facilitators. In place of the cult heads and their henchman could be Illusionist, Priest, Warlock of the Fiend.
Monster Tactics. If Baraqiel does not sure of victorius otcome, she tries to keep distance and uses range attacks, however in case of upcoming danger she would escape to the Ethereal Plane. Usually Baraqiel would choose the target of her charm according to its appearance or whichever has the highest Charisma score, but you can designate PC wth missing options to harm flying creatures to let them have fun in fight.
But in most fights there are 3 pattern of behavior:
- Playful. Baraqiel has no intention of killing PC's. She tests them and shows her moves. Succubus changes the traget of her charms occasionally and confronts characters with each other.
- Cautious. Baraqiel uses her ranged attacks and/or her whip to maintain safe distance while flying above earth. She attacks with her tail one picked target untill it fall unconscious, but only if she can fly away enough.
- Furious. Baraqiel uses her melee attacks as claws and tail to deal maximum damage. She concentrate these attacks on one target at her turns but every combat round chooses a target, which dealt highest points of damage to her.
In addition, Baraqiel sometimes has allies in her fights if she prepared for them. Such allies could be Ghost indebted to serve Baraqiel even after death, Assassin charmed by her or four Imps.
Adventure hooks. А nobleman who was killed according to the public find PC's and ask them to return his title and save his wife from hostile baron who made an attemtp on his life and capture his spouse. If PC's investigate this case, they find a wife with this baron and find out that this lady make a deal with the devil to seduce the baron and became his wife. She also prepared the assassination of her previous husband. Now she became one of the leaders of devil-worshipper cult, which praise the Lady of Pleasnt Pain. If PC's tries to return the lady to employer or destroy the cult, Baraqiel step into game and gives PC's information about physichal and mental abusement, which was made by their employer to this lady but exaggerates the details. In addition, she offers some of her gifts to PC's in request of leaving this situation intact.
