Traits

Angelic Weapons. Azazel's weapon attacks are magical. When he hits with any weapon, the weapon deals an extra 36 (8d8) radiant damage (included in the weapon attacks).

Ascension. When Azazel casts plane shift to teleport himself to Mount Celestia, all evil creatures within a 40-foot radius of him who have 100 hit points or fewer, must succeed on a DC 26 Constitution saving throw, or be disintegrated in a pillar of holy light.

Divine Awareness. Azazel knows if he hears a lie.

Holy Light. Azazel's sword sheds bright light in a 20-foot radius, and dim light for an additional 20 feet. Fiends within this light have disadvantage on all attack rolls.

Innate Spellcasting. Azazel’s innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 26, +15 to hit). He can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

At will: alter self (can become Medium when changing his appearance), blinding smite, commune, detect evil and good, guiding bolt, invisibility (self only), sunbeam, wall of light

3/day each: earthquake, meteor swarm, plane shift, resurrection, temple of the gods

1/day each: control weather, gate, mass heal, sunburst true resurrection

Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If Azazel fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.

Lightborn. Unless he is slain on the plane of Mount Celestia, Azazel's body vanishes in a burst of blinding light before reforming on his home plane 1d6 + 1 days later. All who see this burst of light must succeed on a DC 26 Constitution saving throw or be blinded until magic such as the lesser restoration spell removes the blindness. Evil aligned creatures have disadvantage on this saving throw.

Magic Resistance. Azazel has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Shard of Order. The celestial steel used to forge the Sword of Azazel was infused with one of his feathers. When casting the plane shift spell, Azazel may teleport directly to his sword.

Actions

Multiattack. Azazel makes three Sword of Azazel attacks. He may substitute Healing Touch for Sword of Azazel.

Sword of Azazel. Melee Weapon Attack: +16 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 20 (2d10 + 10) bludgeoning damage, plus 36 (8d8) radiant damage. A creature not of any good alignment struck by this weapon must succeed a DC 26 Constitution saving throw or be blinded until the end of its next turn.

Healing Touch (4/Day). Azazel touches a creature. The target magically regains 70 hit points and is freed from any curse, disease, poison, blindness, or deafness. An undead or fiend type creature touched by this ability must succeed a DC 26 Constitution saving throw, or suffer 70 radiant damage, instead of healing.

Celestial Smite. Ranged Spell Attack: +16 to hit, range 120 ft., one target. Hit: 36 (8d8) radiant damage. If the target is a creature not of any good alignment that has 100 hit points or fewer, it must succeed on a DC 26 Constitution saving throw or be instantly killed. A creature killed by this attack has its body disintegrated.

Teleport. Azazel magically teleports, along with any equipment he is wearing or carrying, up to 120 feet to an unoccupied space he can see.

Reactions

Divine Guard. While Azazel is wielding the Sword of Azazel and another creature hits him with a melee attack, he can use his reaction to add 6 to his AC for that attack.

Holy Phase. When Azazel is targeted with an attack, he may use his reaction in an attempt to phase through a single attack made against him, imposing disadvantage on that attack. If the attack against him is still successful, he becomes become incapacitated until the end of his next turn.

Legendary Actions

Azazel can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. Azazel regains spent legendary actions at the start of his turn.

Teleport. Azazel uses his Teleport action.

Searing Burst (Costs 2 Actions). Azazel emits magical, divine energy. Each creature of his choice in a 10-foot radius must make a DC 23 Dexterity saving throw, taking 14 (4d6) fire damage plus 14 (4d6) radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Blinding Gaze (Costs 3 Actions). Azazel targets one creature he can see within 60 feet of him. If the target can see him, the target must succeed on a DC 26 Constitution saving throw or be blinded until magic such as the lesser restoration spell removes the blindness.

Description

One of the mightiest angels in all of Mount Celestia, Azazel came into existence atop the very peak of Mount Celestia itself, along with his twin sister: Zariel. Azazel was charged to be the archangel of order, absolutely devoted to divine purity, he stands as a watcher of the cosmos and the realms, gazing into all that occurs.

Heralded as a god amongst angels due to his power and status, Azazel has been conditioned to see himself above most beings in the multiverse, and as a result of this conditioning, believes himself to know better than the beings that are below him.

Azazel however held a deep seeded belief that those who are neither good or obey the laws of which he was born to upheld, should be wiped from the face of reality as he sees most planes as a blight on celestial supremacy and perceives their eradication as a way to achieve a perfect realm.

Sword of Azazel. Forged in the divine light of the gods themselves, this holy blade was gifted to Azazel as a sign of his devotion and dedication to the will of the celestials. this blade uses the same statistics as the Sword of Zariel, the twin blade belonging to his sister: Zariel.
