Special Equipment. Anglerfish Circlet: Copper circlet with a single glowing sapphire; the sapphire can cast light without requiring concentration.
Cutlass of The End: This +1 scimitar's blade is always wet with seawater. It deals 2d4 slashing damage on a hit. It functions as a weapon of warning and can cast wall of water once every long rest. While holding this weapon, the user can perceive the ship as if they were at the helm and can communicate to the crew telepathically. (requires attunement)
The "Something's" Fishy: This small, wooden fish charm gives its bearer advantage on insight and investigation checks. (requires attunement)
Sea Legs. Amreus End has two thin, concealed, stalklike legs ending in pin-like points that extend from his primary legs. Once extended, Amreus End can walk on water as if it were land.
Amphibious. Amreus End can breathe air and water and has a swimming speed equal to his walking speed.
Innate Spellcasting. The babau’s innate spellcasting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 11). The babau can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:
At will: darkness, dispel magic, fear, heat metal
Multiattack. The babau makes two melee attacks. It can also use Weakening Gaze before or after making these attacks.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) slashing damage.
Cutlass of the End. Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 20/60 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d6 + 5) slashing damage.
Weakening Gaze. The babau targets one creature that it can see within 20 feet of it. The target must make a DC 14 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the target deals only half damage with weapon attacks that use Strength for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
Turning Wave. When Amreus End is hit with an attack, a source of water from within 50 feet of him surges to block the blow, imposing disadvantage on the roll.
Description

Amreus End is a steward of Lolth and the captain of her ship, The Dolomedes. The ship materializes onto the material plane from The Abyss whenever Lolth's followers of sufficient devotion and standing have need of water transport. These followers are rarely seafaring and as such, the ship is crewed by demons compelled to respect the commands of their lady's favored servants. Leading this crew is Amreus End, a Babau with over a millennia of sailing expertise.
Amreus is a merciless taskmaster that often bristles at the commands of the clergy and socialites that tend to receive his lady's patronage. A dread pirate in his previous life, Amreus prides himself on his mastery over the sea. He harbors respect for those with the courage and independence to sail under their own flag, privately resenting his eternal servitude to Lolth, feeling little affinity for her whims beyond the relative freedom she allows him and the powers and boons she grants him for his service. Foremost among these are the water-spider legs that emerge from his own, allowing him to walk on water, his magical scimitar that can command the waves, and the formidable spider ship itself.
He treats his crew with ruthless efficiency: the manes rowers man the oars until they reach a state of exhaustion that hinders their ability to perform, when their captain allows the rest to feed on perceived slackers; more manes are then summoned to take the empty seats though none are permitted to leave the rowing hold. Dretches are summoned as livestock to be butchered for the humanoid guests as well as the captain himself.
Amreus fights courageously, fearing no death, as he will simply reform in The Abyss along with his ship when Lolth sees fit to restore him. As such, his command is bold, risking himself and the ship to kill his target but not unnecessarily. As a glorified ferryman, he is made to serve the ship's passengers, but delights in killing them if their goals begin to run contrary to the queen of spiders.
