Mimicry. A creature that hears the sounds can tell they are imitations with a successful DC 16 Wisdom (Insight) check.
Wendigo Curse. A creature, other than an undead or construct, that lands a killing blow on the wendigo alpha and is within 30ft. must succeed a DC 17 Wisdom save or begins to transform into a wendigo after 2d4 days. If the creature that killed it is not within 30ft., the curse afflicts a random creature within 30ft, if this is another Wendigo, it immediately transforms over the course of one round and becomes an Alpha. The transformation takes 30 days and begins subtly (slightly paler skin, thinner and taller body) but advances with each passing day (DC 15 Perception/Medicine check to notice changes at the beginning and DC lowers as curse progresses).
Every time a cursed creature notices a dead body of a sentient humanoid within 60 feet of it, it must succeed on a DC 14 Charisma saving throw or be forced to spend it's movement to get to the body and action to begin devouring it. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. Each time the cursed creature devours the flesh of a sentient humanoid, living or dead, it lowers the number of days to finish the transformation by 5.
A spell like Remove Curse, or Greater Restoration can reverse this transformation so long as the creature has not consumed any corpses. Nothing short of a Wish spell could restore a wendigo after that.
Multiattack. The wendigo alpha makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., 1 target. Hit: 5 (1d6 +3) piercing damage and 6 (2d6) necrotic damage. The wendigo alpha regains hit points equal to the necrotic damage dealt, unless the target is a construct or undead.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, range 10 ft., 1 target. Hit: 7 (2d4 + 3) slashing damage and 6 (2d6) poison damage.
Description
The Wendigo is tall and gaunt to the point of emaciation, its desiccated skin pulled tightly over its bones. With its bones pushing out against its skin, its complexion the ash gray of death, and its red eyes pushed back deep into their sockets, the wendigo skulks in the northern forests and mountains of the realm, fighting with gnolls at whatever scraps they can find, waiting for the next poor soul to wander into the woods alone.

Posted Apr 17, 2020Mostly just looking for feedback on balancing. Took someone else's version and tweaked it, this was not an original idea. I cannot remember the username, however I did find the artist credit.
