Description

baumats are vary similar to lycanthropes because at night they turn into giant black panthers with a 24ft wingspan they differ from lycanthropes because instead of being inflicted by a disease they are cursed vary charismatic druids that were cursed by nature because they killed and sacrificed another member of the druidic order. other druids and humanoids serve them because they promise power and magic but also the baumat has a legendary charm. they do keep hoards and in these hoards, they keep exotic plant gems, and there favorite treasures which are unicorn horns and there preferred food unicorn flesh seasoned with plums and elderflower. the only thing that they love more than unicorn flesh is charming and influencing humanoids for their own gain. they constantly influence other creatures especially humans to follow there biding. they will constantly charm soldiers and common folk to kill leaders or enemies of the baumat. they have been known to charm entire towns to kill a political rifle ( they constantly get involved in locale politics and become tyrants). when two baumats meet each other it starts a kinda turf war whare the baumat will charm entire army and since they can charm so much that basically play ping pong with the whole army sending them back and forth with the armies growing in size

Lair and Lair Actions

baumats dwell in abandoned castles and temperate forests that are near major or modestly-sized city and towns.

Lair Actions

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the baumat takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; the dragon can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row

Spike growth.  the baumat creates a 15 ft area of thorns and vines if a creature moves in this area they will take 1d4 pricing damage and the creature becomes restrained.

Call of the wild. the baumat call 1d6 beasts (wolfs bears falcons etc) to a target area

sticks to snakes. the baumat at turns 7 sicks into snakes that bite for 1 pricing damage and  1d4 poison damage for 3 rounds

Regional Effects

The region containing a legendary baumats lair is warped by the baumats magic, which creates one or more of the following effects:

  • plant life turns into thickets and becomes so dense it becomes difficult terrain and grows thorns
  • poisonous reptiles swarm 1 mile around there lair
  • trees become their eyes

If the baumat dies, the reptiles leave. The thickets remain, but within 1d10 days, they become mundane plants and normal difficult terrain, losing their thorns.
