False Appearance. The wendigo's brown and grey bark-like body also works as camouflage. While the wendigo is motionless and hiding on the floor among the trees or in the swamp, it is indistinguishable from a its surroundings.
Ice Heart. The wendigo can only be permanently killed by throwing it onto a fire and destroying its icy heart. Otherwise, it will simply be knocked into a coma when it reaches 0 hit points.
Subsistence. The wendigo can survive by eating rotten wood and moss in the absence of people or animals to eat.
Pounce. If the wendigo moves at least 20 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with a claw attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the wendigo can make one bit attack against it as a bonus action.
Multiattack. The wendigo makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws. If it can, wendigo uses its Staggering Roar instead of a Bite attack.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (2d6 + 2) piercing damage and 10 (3d6) necrotic damage. The wendigo regains hit points equal to necrotic damage dealt, unless the target is a construct or undead.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage. If the target is a Large or smaller creature that the wendigo already hit with two claw attack this turn, the target is grappled (escape DC 14). Until this grapple ends, the creature is restrained and the wendigo can't use its claws against another target.
Terrifying Roar (Recharge 5-6). The wendigo emits a thundering roar. Each creature within 30 feet of the wendigo must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
Description
When a freezing cold winter famine hits, and a human turns to cannibalism, they can be possessed by a demonic spirit, and transform into a Wendigo. The human's starved body transforms, becoming tall and elongated, with dead stretched grey skin, large yellow owl-like eyes, and matted black hair. The human's fingers will merge and their nails become long claws, and their teeth become sharp and pointed like a shark's. It will stalk the forest searching for humans to eat, or other animals. If it needs to, it can eat rotten wood and moss to survive. A Wendigo can only be permanently killed by throwing it onto a fire, destroying its icy heart.
