Amphibious. The afanc can breath in air and water.
Multiattack. The afanc can make two flipper attacks.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 33 (5d10 + 6) piercing damage.
Flipper. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 22 (3d10 + 6) bludgeoning damage.
Whirlpool. The afanc circles around all creatures within an area of 100 feet. When this is going on, the afanc’s swim speed is 150 ft. Once this has gone on for 3 rounds, a whirlpool is created. Each creature in this pool must make a DC 18 Strength saving throw. On a failure, they take 18 (2d8 +6) bludgeoning damage. If a target is Huge or smaller, it is also grappled (escape DC 17). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained and unable to breathe unless it can breathe water. If the saving throw is successful, the target can move 10 ft. toward the edge of the area. All movement is halved in this pool.
Description
A monster from the distant system of AD&D, this monster will make an intense encounter for sea faring players.
An afanc appears similar to a cross between a whale and a great fish. The body is whale-like, but the head is more fish-like, and the tail is vertical. Its color is gray to blue-gray. These creatures are fishes, although they breathe both air and water.
